Eric Winston knows as much as any man about the myth of free agency, what he calls its "fallacy." Oh, you're free all right, he explains free to lie awake at night staring at the ceiling and wondering where, or if, you'll play again.
"When there's uncertainty in life," Winston, the former Texans right tackle, said, "it's always worrisome. It's tough to be waiting around, worrying about what's next. But now that I've been on all sides of it, what I've learned about handling the situation is that it's all about expectations."

"Probably not," he said. "I think they've moved on. But I've learned never to say never."
