Evo's Fuggin' Mock 2.0

EVOLVIST

Kid A
Yeah, yeah, I said I'd only do one mock, but damn, this year is tough, seen through the optics of a playoff team (thank God!)

I swear this is my final mock before my final one. :smiliepalm:

1.) Kevin Minter – ILB – LSU
2.) Da'Rick Rogers – WR – Tennessee Tech
3.) Corey Lemonier – OLB – Auburn
3.) Bennie Logan – NT – LSU
4.) Kenny Stills – WR – Oklahoma
5.) William Gholston – DE – Michigan State
6.) Jake Stoneburner – TE – Ohio State
6.) Robert Lester – SS – Alabama
7.) Ricky Wagner – OT – Wisconsin

...and yes, I think Minter falls to us, considering that someone's going to take Ogeltree (Bears) and Te'o. I'm really torn between Terry Hawthorne (CB/FS) and Kenny Stills (WR) in the 4th, because the Texans have always taken a CB in the draft, and only once, last year, two WRs...so they might have what they need at WR with one true #2 drafted high. I like Da'Rick Rogers the best, but I wouldn't balk at Terrance Williams, Hopkins, and a few others.

Solid draft, but I don't think some guys last that long.

I don't know, man. Not Walters, Mayock, SI, CBS, NFL or several other "experts" have any of my picks going before the Texans pick at their slots. There are a few here and there, but mostly not.

Of course we're all just guessing, educated or otherwise. I usually nail two picks a year, altough not the round they go in. Last year I only got one: Devier Posey - again, not in the round I had him in. I think I had him in the 5th.

Anyway, everyone's mock's go south on draft day...but it sure is a lot of fun. :texanbill:

There's some very good players here. The only pick I have trouble with is Minter in the 1st. In the modern era of pass happy football I don't see an ILB as a 1st round pick and this years ILB class isn't a very good one. Other than the 1st pick I think the rest is very good.

We are not going to draft no stinkin LB with our top pick, unless it's an edge rusher. End of story.

I do not like Minter of many of the other "top ILB's" in this class....

The value for ILB in this draft is in the later rounds.

Honestly, I'd rather have Teo than Minter.

Fellas, more than any other position on the defense we have Courtney Love's vagina next to Brian Cushing. That's a big gaping hole!

There will be much tears and a great gnashing of teeth if we have another revolving door of ILBs, because our scrubs are getting torched in the run and passing games (as if there were any other games). You want a tandem there that will last a while.

Now, while I agree that you wouldn't normally take an ILB in the first, I don't cotton the idea of converting an OLB into one, while Minter is the best pure ILB in this draft - and that's really all he's ever played. He's athletic and knows the position inside and out. 3 down - plug n play.

Because while you want a rotation of pass rushers in Wade's defense, you don't want a rotation at the core of the defense: those ILBs.
