ESPN's Clayton: Texans "Best" job, Ferentz of Iowa possible

GP

Go Texans!
Clayton was on SportsCenter just now.

Says Texans with owner McNair and a fairly good roster of talent is the best HC vacancy available.

Says whoever is HC, he should focus on protecting Carr (duh).

Claims that Ferentz of Iowa is the frontrunner with Kubiak right there at the top of the list, as well.

Doesn't think Ferentz will leave Iowa.

(Showed clips of Ferentz coaching on the sideline, approaching players on the bench and giving instruction. The guy looks pretty focused and pretty much appeared to me as if he was definitely running the show. Opposite of the note-taking Capers who stood on the chalk and stared out into space with mouth open....)

Clayton seems to like Ferentz a lot, so I am not sure if his "liking" Ferentz is really just a personal perspective or if he has inside information from the Texans that supports his statements.

He detailed other HC vacancies, with a graphic popping up on the screen with the top two names of the most likely head coach beside the names of the NFL teams. I found it very interesting that he did NOT have Kubiak's name beside any other team (not even at the number two slot) other than the Texans. Going on that, it appears Kubiak might only be considering Texans and not much of anything else.

That's the rumor. He supposidly would only consider the Texans, A&M or the Bronco's. He is supposed to be interviewing with the Chiefs & one other though.

Mike Golic said that out of the 7 teams in need of a head coach, the texans were the worst situation on nfl live last night. He said the entire team regrested and that the o line is a disaster.

Golic just needed to get his shot in at Houston this week. What could be so bad about this situation? if you fail, you can blame it on Casserly and the lack of talent we already have. There is no where to go but up, sounds like a pretty good situation for a head coach to me.

That only proves Mike Golic is an *****. Benson should hire him to work for the Saints. Benson and Golic sound like a match made in heaven.

Personally, I wanted him to take over for Slocum at A&M, but our brilliant dean, saw fit to not even interview him. But, given how well Coach Fran is doing, if Kubiak doesn't get the Texans job this year, maybe he will be were he belong next year - Kyle Field! Whoop!

I don't think there is any other possiblity other than Kubiak. The guys has the creds, and could the spark the Texans need to light a fire under their ***.

I have heard this comment before, and I think it's a case of the media not doing their homework/trying to create a soundbite. We have a lot of good players. We even have some excellent players on the roster already. Some of these teams have been augering for years and years (Lions, Saints). As an expansion team, we showed improvement up until mid-way last year when the coaching/strategies began to change. And, as has been pointed out several times, we have the number one pick which could be traded if the coach desired. In addition to that, there are 3/4 other new players that can be brought on board during this draft that could make an impact. With McNair's money and support, I think Kubiak or whoever else comes into Houston will have many of the tools they need to create a successful football team next year.

Jaws reported that the Texans job was the 3rd out of the top five. First was the Chiefs, Packers, Texans, Raiders, and then Vikings.

I put alot more stock in Clayton than Gollic anyday. He is a meat head who took one to many shots to the head. Clayton is an analyst who does his home work and keeps everything in perspective. GB is an absolute mess right now with the Favre drama going on and I wouldnt want to be the guy who drove out Brett. N.O is N.O enough said. Minnisota(sp) is an orgy waiting to happen. Al Davis is an *****. KC is a better team but they are so old I wouldnt want to be there when they lose the whole offense to retirement. The rams front office are heartless and backstabbers and I wouldnt want to work there. But Gollic works for ESPN so he obviously knows best and Houston is a horrible place to go :bomb: :sarcasm:

Umm, going on that, it appears that nobody else wants Kubiak except the Texans. Alarm bells should be going off big-time.

There are plenty of other options and if the Texans don't take one of them and go with Kubiak, they are in for a series of double-digit loss seasons.
