Eliminates the Reggie Bush fans, only the true Texans fans remain

terrible pick. not a top 10 player.
just passed on the greatest running back of this generation that would have made the texans the best offense in the nfl.

i'd rather have aj hawk or d'brickashaw over mario williams.
Dude...Mario was rated as the best player in the draft by quite a few NFL teams. If you think he is not a top 10 player, you don't know much about football. Have a nice day...:redtowel: :yahoo:

If the D-Line lives up the billing, we should have one heck of a defensive line. It would give us a slight chance at touching Manning.

I'm not huge on this... Mario was inconsistant in college and we have lots of De's already. I wanted Dbrick or Bush, Mario will be interesting.

Good player. Bad pick. They totally misplayed this. If taking Williams, the decision should have been made ALOT sooner. That way they could have tried to work a trade. He's gonna probably be a good player. I would have like the pick much better at #3 or #4, not #1.

Hawk is not a top 10 player. Never has been. Like I said, if the Texans didn't take him, NO would have at #2. To say that Williams isn't a top 10 player is ridiculous.

NO would have picked him at #2. How far down do you think you could go? DEs are much, much more valuable than RBs. They are a dime a dozen. Remember, when the Colts had to decide if they were going to pay the DE or the RB, they chose the DE.

Hawk is a top 5 player.

You have DEs that cannot rush the passer! Peek got some sacks, but that sure wasn't enough. And Weaver can't rush the passer either. The Texans are better with Williams than they would have been with Bush.

Yeah, right. We'll just see if he goes in the top 5 tomorrow. I don't see it. Maybe the lower first round, but certainly NOT top 5.

hawk is a top 10 payer you guys just made the bigges mistake in a draft that you can make your gm is a lame duck and evryone knows it, im not bashing your team i just think this is a really dumb move i expect to see caserly out soon. Not only that you just got a good 4-3 d-end and made him an OLB/ DE not going to be great with this guy go back and look how good guys like that have turned out.

Don't rush things. The D-line has improved, but I wouldn't say it's one of the better lines around. The Texans worked on a need rather than draft into a strength. That was a wise thing to do, but don't expect this team to lead in sacks next year.

Top 10, maybe, but I see him in the middle to latter part of the first round.

...smart pick, should help to elevate the play of others like Babin and Peek! To beat the elite teams like the Colts and Pats, we've got to put pressure on their QB's ala the Steelers in the play-offs last year. Too, Williams is not just one dimensional, as he plays the run very well--another sore spot for the Texans last year.

RB was not a need position, especially in Kubiak's system. Unlike Capers, K will rotate the RB's to keep them fresher and less injury prone. DD and Morency are 2 good backs and I'm sure we will add another through the draft, so I think this is a good pick.:yahoo:

"Only the true Texans fans remain"

Please, what an absolutely assanine thing to say. So anyone who thought that Bush was the better choice was merely a "Reggie Bush fan" and not a "True Texans fan". That's a load of crap.

The people who wanted Vince Young weren't just "Vince Young fans" either. they had a different opinion of what the team should do. Nothing more.

When some Texans fans start climbing up on their "I'm a better Texans fan than you are" box and posting like this I get out my hip waders. It's deep.

Yeah baby, we finally get a true monster on defense!! ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL? Us Texas fans took it to the chin not drafting Vince, but can the Reggie boys do that. Go Texans:yahoo:

Totally agree Bobo!! Build this defense and then offense when defense is ready.

I just hope our DE #1 pick turns out like the Bill's pick of Bruce Smith back in the 80's. If it results in 4 super bowl appearances, it will be worth it. However, the Bills really never started their run until 3 years later and the next year aquisition of Kelly.

Oh well, I hope MW tears apart some offenses!

I think the only reason folks are upset is becuase we used a #1 pick on a #5 or #6 "level" player. Had we traded down for MW then the uproar would be less.

Wow, where are all the bushies now???? I'm loving SUPER MARIO already! If we can get the Chicago 1st rounder, we can snag a DeAngelo Williams or Maroney later.

If we were going to trade down for Mario, we would have had to trade to #2. My guess is that the Saints wouldn't bite even if we tried to make the trade.

How did I know that Bobo would crawl back onto the forum and start posting again? Because a troll needs attention, and we currently have 1,200 active users!

I was for Bush because, as it always has been, the 1st pick in the draft is for BPA. Best Player Available. To make this pick, Kubiak and Casserly are saying that Super Mario is a better player than Reggie. I think that that is a big assumption, but oh well. Domanick will do just fine next year, no doubt.

Let me tell you one thing. You better hit your knees before you go to bed tonight and pray that Reggie doesn't make it into an AFC team. Saints fans must be doing backflips.

Yes, leave if you are going to bash one of our players like that.

And it is Mario as in Super Mario, not like Mary-O. Dude even said his name correctly on NFL Network "First Draft". Any of you that saw those clips could see he can rip through and accelerate at full speed from step one! Edge pass rusher that will run around, swim, bull, or slide through the OL to get in the backfield!!!!

There were Packer fans that were pissed they passed on Barry Sanders to take Tony Mandarich. They've got some of the best fans in the league.

Being a fan means you get the right to be pissed off over moves your team makes. It does not mean you blindly follow every decision they make.

anybody that is following this crappy franchise is as true a fan as there is.

this whole concept is so ridiculous. grow up.

Hawk is a Top TWO player. He's the surest thing in the draft ... and a need position (actually, two need positions) for the Texans.

Williams is #3.

Close your eyes & picture Super Mario dancing over Payton while he's all fetal, & Dunta is high stepping into the endzone with the interception. AWESOME.

LOL I read a quote that said if you are really P.O. you should count to one hundred and you will be relaxed. I have counted to one hundred, looked at a picture of Charley C, and I had to count again, and agian, and again!

Hawk is a LB, do you really think he is the safest pick? Remember Andy Katzemoyer form Ohio St? Exactly

BTW, Reggie Bush is compared to Gale Sayers.....be careful what you hoped for. Gale Sayers was electric as a Runner, Receiver and Returner, too bad his career only last 6 years! Not too many count the last 2 years where he played all of two games with no real contribution. So I guess a 6'0 200 lb RB did not survive back then.....no way he survives now!

i love this pick....wish it could have been vince but this is my 2nd choice. Go mario williams...i've said all year that i would support whoever we picked whenever they became a Texan....Mario is now a Texan....go mario!!!

Yes Mike, because we all know that in the NFL everything that happened to Gale Sayers will happen to anyone compared to him or the very fabric of reality will be torn apart as the universe collapses onto itself.

Too bad we can't find a guy we could compare to Earl Campbell. We'd have a monster running game then.

Well, that goes both ways. You say Marshall Faulk or Gale Sayers are the closest thing to compare him to...never know if it will be more Faulk or more Sayers. Both had great careers, one just had a short career!

Not what they said on 610 today. Supposedly Rick Gosselin of the Dallas Morning News asked all 32 teams who their #1 player was....26 of them said Reggie Bush.

If this sticks it's embarrassing. I have my fingers crossed that tomorrow during the draft they will announce that we have traded Williams for extra picks. If not, then it's another typical Texans blown player transaction.

I could count to a million and I'd still be pissed about this one!
