Early Look at First Round QB's

I think big Ben will be the best QB in this class. I will be following him closely since I got a chance to see him play 3 times last year. He blew me away at times. I think the Steelers made out like bandits in the QB shuffle on draft day.
Roethlisberger told Jerome Bettis that he had seen him on television so often that he didn't know whether to hand off to Bettis or shake his hand. Nervous? "Oh, definitely," Roethlisberger said. "I think if you're not nervous something's wrong. But I got that first practice out of the way. My legs were a little shaky, my arms a little weak, but I'm ready to go now."

His first pass in team drills was a bootleg to the right, a play that can take advantage of his good mobility. He whipped a pass to tight end Bob Blizzard, a rookie free agent from North Carolina, who was impressed with the pass but not necessarily who threw it.

"Actually, I didn't even know he threw the ball," Blizzard said. "I was just so focused. Whoever throws me the ball, I'm going to catch it. It was a naked slant, I ran in and released out and he hit me with a good pass. He put it right on me." Maddox, the incumbent starter, came away impressed with Roethlisberger but could provide no opinion on Roethlisberger's first pro practices.

I agree, I think the other two team were to worried about Manning they let the best QB in the Draft slip to 11. Sucks for Rothelisberger but now he can show the world that they screwed up by passing on him.

I disagree, your making really fast judgements on players. I would rather have a QB who takes awhile to develope then on that rises fast and falls faster. These guys have a few months to learn the system, and relax. After one day you think you can make a judgement on a player?

No by watching them for years in college and with my own personal opinions I can make judgements on them. I do believe its my right...

how does david comper to theis guys. And any chance manning being the brat here that the leaf curse might be reversed

Only time will tell with this new crop of QB's. After two years we still don't know about Carr or Harrington. I will say that there is no way in hell Eli will put up better numbers than Peyton.

i'll agree that roethlisberger has the ability to be the best QB out of the three...but i don't think the best QB in this draft will be one of those three...with dennis green and those recievers in arizona you have to watch out for john navarre...if you remember the days of green in minnesota he went through how many QB's before sticking with culpepper...could be the same thing for the cards...go through mccown...then king...then it's navarre's turn and he doesn't let go of the starting spot...but for what this subject is about...big ben is it...but he does also have the same qualities that ryan leaf had...better physically but might not have the right mind-set...although i think the one with the wrong mind-set is eli

I personally like the restocking of sorts that has went on in the last few years. I would have never figured that the Texans , Falcons, Bengals and the Lions would be the teams with young talented QB's. I hope all do well but not as well as Carr. It will be good for competiton and good for us. I'm glad the 49ers, Miami, and Dallas are struggling to fill the spot.

All in all it is so tough to tell how a QB will turn out...heck, just look at he boards and see the discussion about Carr's development. I think that all 3 of the top QBs have a good chance to succeed from the skills stand point. I think that Big Ben needs the most polishing but he is in a great enviroment in Pittsburg and a QB friendly system. Rivers is going to be getting pasted from the get go...if the Bolts can work maintain him they might have something there. Finally, our fav...ELI, well he is toting the load for the Gmen and that's going to be awful heavy about mid-season...not to mention the total lack of O-line in NY. Between his lack of supporting cast and the animosity that he has instilled in a lot of NFL vets (think Ray Lewis here) he is going to be running for his life.

Not only do I think Manning will be the best QB in this draft when it is all said and done. But I also think he will turn out to be better than his brother and father. I'm an SEC fan (which in my opinion is the hardest division in D1) and Manning impresses me a bunch.

It's always tough trying to project who's going to be the better NFL player, but it's even tougher with QB's. But since its all in good fun, I'll toss in my prognostication. *Looks into crystal ball* I see Big Ben being the best of the bunch, if for no other reason than he already has a catchy nickname. Phillip will become part of the field in San Diego. Once they peel him up off the grass, I think he'll have a good showing his sophmore season. As for Manning #3 I feel he'll get some pressure taken off of him by the yet unnamed veteran QB that will take a few starts from him. Sure Ben was a steal, but then again so was Leftwich. Can't wait to see how they all fare.

OK lets take this another notch higher. Of the last three years who is the most promising, talented and gifted QB to come into the NFL?

game on :fight:

will be interesting to watch those guys for the next few years...they all have time and potential to prove themselves...i wish them all the best of luck

Eli has the pedagree & will be awesome given the right situation.

Rivers is a very impressive young man, should be a terrific leader.

Ben has the most promising arm since Carr.

BJ Symons has the luxury to be groomed plus a great looking up & coming line.

I will pick Carr to be the best in the last three years. He has shown he can run when needed, but always tries tries to throw first. Thats what a QB should do. He has a strong arm. If he works on accuracy and touch then his game will be better. The other big thing is not throwing key interceptions. I am sure the others will be good, but Carr will be the best. BTW its okay to be biased. :)

without a doubt, the most impactful QB to come through the draft the past 3 years is vick...his team is pathetic without him and playoff caliber with him...if he can stay healthy and learn to use the pocket and better utilize his receivers, the falcons will be set for years...

One thing just stood out to me in the article posted by Vin...Eli's comments about potentially not being the starter, that's about the last thing that he needed to say or portray thru his attitude. That's the kind of stuff that will turn some veterans off who were already concerned about the season with him at the helm.

The NY front office picked up Warner to quell the lockeroom dissent about how Collins situation was dealt with and essentially naming Eli the starter before he had made it to the podium with a Giants hat on. Eli's comments might not help him out in gaining the trust and confidence of the vet's that he is supposed to be leading.
