EaglesvsTexans

Please.... You know nothing of the eagles.
Mcnabb is a top 5 qb, name 5 that are better over the last 4 year period. Kalu was not our best pass rusher although he has had his good games. Kearse is not washed up. Our corners are both pro bowl caliber and we have depth on the bench with Rod Hood who would be a starter for you guys. Both of our safties have been to the pro bowl nad wehave improved the push of the front 4. Trotter is a pro bowl linebacker in the middle, Strong side and weak side are a little unknown but I think it's been addressed in the off season, we'll see how it works out. This is an awesome defense the eagles will field this year, perhaps the best in the Jim Johnson era. Our receivers are better than the receivers we had when we went to 3 straight NFC championship games before TO. O-line is solid running game is optimistic but agreeably it's a little questionable. Andy Reid can acheive by committee a decent running game he's done it before and when one of the committee is Westbrook it makes it a little easier.

If this is your rationale for an Eagles win, I think the Texans are going to score 200 points.

Actually, if you read the entire post it was not my rationale for an eagles win. But why would you think the Texans would score 200 points because of it? I like the Texans and I really like what they have done this off season But I am an eagles fan first. I beleive the Eagles will win the game for other reasons as stated in the part of my post that you didn't quote.

Well the first thing I am doing when we play the Eagles is watch for an onside kick early in the game and a fake punt everytime they go to punt.

No way the Texans beat the Eagles. They were in the Super Bowl two years ago. Last year was a product of injuries and their big baby imploding the team. They will be better this year.

Well for one thing you guys actually had coach that can coach, plus you guys were 4-2 before the TO mess started, then you guys went 2-8 afterwards.you guys got murdered by the Seahawks at home on Monday Night Football 42-0,Im sure the Texans could have beat you guys if we played you that time, again where are you coming from?

Oh yeah Donovan McNabb will be seeing a lot of Mario Williams in his face come gametime

How many of those last games did McNabb QB?

true true, but this is a new year, i ain't expecting the texans to win but what i am expecting is a close game.........
can't wait to see what mcnabb can do without TO........same goes to culpepper without moss

You have to look no further the the 4 years prior to last year to get that answer.

two words:
Jabbar Gaffney

That alone tells me how bad it must be for your reciever corps. It could be worse, you could be like the Lions and got Corey Bradford who is horrible. Gaffney is a very very average player and if he reaches his full potential he will be a weak #2 reciever or a strong #3.

Don't get on too much of a high horse. Last year your team was LAST PLACE in your division just like the Texans.

Anyways I hope the Eagles and everyone else pound on the Cowboys when you play them.

Why are you guys so focused on a WR the eagles signed for one year at a vet min. salary? If the Texans focus on the same thing.....................

I guess if I had 4 NCF Conference titles to rest my hat on I would too. BUT, I don't, so, I have to say that IF the Texan coaching staff is at least as good as their previous teams have been over the last four years we wil be fine. As for Gaffney, Carr hit him in the back at least twice, he doesn't look for the ball, his only defense is that Capers wasn't going to let Carr throw the ball anyway. Johnson is a great defensive guru, but maybe Smith can rebuild the "House of Pain", and wouldn't that be a game worth se'in.

I couldn't write "House of Payne", I don't think he is what we need up front, I hope I'm wrong.:homer: :homer: :homer:

Minor correction: Andy Reid era Eagles went to 4 straight NFCCG's but only won 1

Hey, I used to be a big Eagle fan back in the early 80's. Wilbert Montgomery, Harold Charmichael, Carl Hairston, Jaws... all favorites of mine growing up. But let's be real... since Leonard Tose gambled his fortune away and lost his team it's been a piece of garbage. Sure, they've been to a few conference championships and even won one. But the basic fact is that the Eagles organization has as many NFL Championships (meaning Super Bowl wins) as the Texans. No one (outside of Philadelphia) gives a crap about how good McNabb is supposed to be or how TO ruined your season last year or that Jabar friggin' Gaffney was your best offseason acquisition. Seriously, isn't there a Cowboys message board you guys can troll over to... Oh yeah, the old "we've been to the Super Bowl twice" argument doesn't really work over there. How 'bout the Redskins message board... ahhhhh foiled again. Well, there's always the Giants... dammmit, they've won Super Bowls also. How does it feel to be the only team in your division to have never won anything? And after how many years in existence?

The Eagles are amazing. Reid and McNabb do whatever it takes to get the job done even when it looks like they're hopelessly overmatched. No quality backs that can remain healthy, no problem. No wideouts that are consistent, no problem. Broken ankle, no problem. Having TO showed what McNabb is capable of with a good receiver, I just don't understand why the Iggles can't seem to add quality wideouts.

My wife and I lived in Yardley, PA for a couple of years. At that point, the Iggles became my #2 team and her #3 team. (Her #2 team is the Titans... which kills me.) I even went to the Vet while I was there and watched the Iggles beat the Chargers.

But the Texans are #1 in our hearts.
