Drew Brees has lost his mind

John Clayton, of ESPN.com, reports free agent QB Drew Brees (Chargers) reportedly is seeking a contract that will pay him $10 million per year and he is firm in those demands. The New Orleans Saints are the closest to meeting Brees' demands. The Miami Dolphins aren't offering as much in guarantees as New Orleans, and they seem to have dug in on not doing that with Brees coming off shoulder surgery.

C'mon $10 mil a year. Who is gonna be that foolish, since he is coming off shoulder surgery. Although that may help in a trade down scenario with NO if they don't want to pay that ridiculous amount of money.:twocents:

He is probably sitting there watching everything going on in the first day of free agency and probably thinks he can get that kind of money. I mean the offer Steve Hutchison signed from Minnesota averages out to $7 million/year and Bentley is now the highest paid Center in NFL history...

Saints | Brees will sign with Miami or New Orleans

Jeff Darlington, of the Palm Beach Post, reports free agent QB Drew Brees (Chargers) said he will sign with either the Miami Dolphins or New Orleans Saints. "Obviously, I want to make the decision as soon as I'm ready to, which should be pretty soon," Brees said Sunday night, March 12. "It's a process. We're just working out a compromise. Both sides have been in discussions, and they'll continue to talk."

The Chargers are good but it's a bump in the road for them if Philip Rivers is gonna be their starter. I'm surprised they're not doing everything they can to keep Brees.

I think the Chargers made up their mind about Brees when they picked up Rivers... Brees stepping up just slowed them down a bit. It did afford them the time to acclimate Rivers, which I think can only help him. Brees injury just made it easier for them to move on.

Personally, I don't want a guy that I have to threaten his job, to get him to play to the level that he is capable of. I'd rather that be a deep flame burning inside him, that I can't extinguish. I'd take a guy like leftwich, who'll play through a broken foot anyday......

I'm no Chargers fan and so therefore no Chargers watcher but as far as I know Rivers hasn't even played. So it'll be like a rookie QB next year for them no matter how many years he's been there. Has he played?

He has taken a small amoutn of snaps, but has gone the path that I believe most young high drafted QB's need to take. Hold the clipboard and have the analytical part of the game slow down for him so he can handle the speed of the game in a more palatable fashion.

no, I don't think he's played either.

But the point is, they are ready to move on. They made that decision years ago.

Well good luck to him. They have a good O line but I still suspect he'll play like a rookie out there.

hmmm.....so much for not being able to take a bad team and make them a contender.

Because of Drew we are 5-2 after being 3-13 last season.

I guess he knows what he's doing.

$10 million a year. That is about $10 million more than I make a year give or take a little bit.

Because, when someone makes an asinine statement like that about another person's ability they deserve to have it shoved back in there face when they are proved WRONG!

PM works fine if it is a one-off. Public ridicule, in my opinion, should be best used when there are many emphatic voices in opposition. Also timeliness should be considered. This thread had two members out of a total 12 posts from a zombie thread that was resurrected 8 months later.

Good feedback though.

SO are you stil laughing at us Texan fans with your 2.5 yards per carry and 0 TD's?

Nope.

We have a player that dictates how the defense plays so as to allow other players on our team to make plays.

I don't give a rats azz if Reggie ever becomes any of the legends he's been compared unfairly to.....all I care about is that the TEAM keeps winning.

I think he's laughing at our 6-2 record.:whip:

He probably is laughing.

He cant figure out how a team is 6-2 when one of its running backs is LAST IN THE NFL in yds per carry.

OBVIOUSLY because every defensive player on the field focuses on him and completely forgets any other player even EXISTS.

OK I guess I have to retort. At the time I thought it was foolish to pay a player $10 million a year with his shoulder injury. Ok he's shoulder is fine I was wrong. BUT he is not the reason they are winning it's the $50 million dollar DECOY. In conclusion I am sure you have never made an... how did you put "asinine statement". So excuse my lack of concern of what you think your royal rightness,SIR.:tease:
