draft pool by round

Here's a list of players I would be willing to take in rounds 1-5 (guys who are guaranteed to go higher aren't included)

1
Peterson RB, Landry FS, Revis CB, Adams DE, Anderson DE, Nelson FS,Lynch RB

2
Ugoh OT, Staley OT, Moss DE, Bush RB, Houston CB, Meriweather FS, Alexander LB, Everett LB, Beason LB

3
Brown DT, Hunt RB, Russell RB, Johnson FS, Harris OT, Francis DE, Ramirez OG

4
Frye OT, Bishop LB, Jackson RB, Bain CB, Sollai DT, Burgess LB

5
Durant LB, Coleman RB, White FS, Moore WR, Johnson LB, Smith CB, Graham CB

Players not listed in any particular order.

Here's my favorite scenario
1-Adrian Peterson RB
2-Chris Houston CB
3-Kareem Brown DT
4-Brandon Frye OT
5-Marvin White FS

We get our big playmaker on offense to help out Carr in Peterson. Upgrade the CB spot with a pure cover corner in Houston. Kareem Brown is a big DT that can rush the passer and will free up Mario. Brandon Frye is a pretty athletic OT who is more of a RT but I think he can play LT with more experience (former DT). Marvin White has alot of measurables, but he may suffer from "make the big hit syndrome". Might be alot like CC Brown, but for a 5th rounder and with his athleticism, size, and speed, I think he's a pretty good value.

Houston may skyrocket up draft boards and be gone in the 1st, in that case, take Meriweather in the 2nd and in the 5th, take Ryan Smith or Corey Graham, whoever is available (would rather have Smith)

Good post. I like your ideal scenario :stirpot: :marionaner:

have no problem taking AP but don't feel he will slide down to the Texans #8 draft slot. in your scenero that offensive playmaker becomes Marshawn Lynch which is awful steep price to pay for a mid-late 1st rd. pick. I don't feel RB is that big of need as getting a solid, young & talented line for (dare I say it?) David Carr, or a playmaker on the defensive line or a db :drunk:

I think Moss may fall under the "guys who are guaranteed to go higher" clause. He's really shooting up people's draft charts. And I think people will be even more impressed after his workouts.

here's another scenario

1-Laron Landry FS
2-Joe Staley/Tony Ugoh OT
3-Brandon Jackson/Gary Russell RB
4-Ryan Smith CB

Landry gives us a great all around safety that can help against the run and the pass. I have Ryan Smith rated as a 5th rounder becuase he's only 165 pounds, but he reminds me of a smaller Dunta Robinson and with Landry in the secondary to help out, I think it's fine to take a smaller CB. He gives a great effort against the run and does well against the pass. Only knock is his size at 5'10 165lbs. He'll be gone before the 5th anyway. Staley fits our system as a zone blocking athletic LT, but he's played against lesser competition. Ugoh has played among the best, but is a bit raw and may be more of a RT. Brandon Jackson has solid measurables and 4.5 speed. Split time with 2 other RB's at Nebraska, but was the #1 back. Russell was very productive last year, but sat out this year due to academic reasons. Measurables are similar to Jackson at 5'11 210-215lbs with 4.5 speed.

I might add someone I didn't see listed. Ryan Kalil C USC...doubt he'll be there in 3rd. so...

1.Adrian Peterson RB
2.Ryan Kalil C
3.Kareem Brown DT
4.Travarous Bain CB
5.Marvin White FS
