With free agency just an hour away, I wanted to explore the possible impacts that some of the apparent impending free agent signings might make. It sounds like the Saints are going to sign Drew Brees, so they won't be looking at a QB at #2, and it sounds like the Dolphins are about to trade for Daunte Culpepper, so they won't be looking to trade up and grab a QB. Focusing on the Saints one, here are a couple possible top 10 scenarios if they do get Brees.

Option 1)
1. Houston Texans - Reggie Bush, RB, USC
2. New Orleans Saints - D'Brickashaw Ferguson, OT, Virginia (or likely look to trade down for a team looking for a QB, maybe Raiders, Lions, or Cardinals)
3. Tennessee Titans - Matt Leinart, QB, USC (or maybe Cutler/Vince)
4. New York Jets - Mario Williams, DE, N.C. State (or trade down)
5. Green Bay Packers - A.J. Hawk, LB, Ohio St.
6. San Francisco 49ers - Michael Huff, CB/S, Texas (or Vernon Davis)
7. Oakland Raiders - Jay Cutler, QB, Vanderbilt (take Vernon Davis if they somehow get Daunte Culpepper)
8. Buffalo Bills - Vernon Davis, TE, Maryland (maybe Haloti Ngata)
9. Detroit Lions - Haloti Ngata, DT, Oregon (not a great fit, so they could very well trade down to someone looking for Ngata or Vince)
10. Arizona Cardinals - Vince Young, QB, Texas

Option 2)
1. Houston Texans - Mario Williams, DE, N.C. State
2. New Orleans Saints - Reggie Bush, RB, USC
3. Tennessee Titans - Matt Leinart, QB, USC
4. New York Jets - D'Brickashaw Ferguson, OT, Virginia

These two scenarios are basically the same other than rotating the top 4 picks, but it certainly will make things interesting in there as some of these picks that we thought were "sure" picks for certain players won't be taken there and many of the other high teams won't have guys available to fill their biggest needs, and I think this could create a lot more trading among this area of picks, and weaken our ability to find a trade and reduce and certainty of us trading down and still getting Mario or Bush, so I think it will likely mean we won't be trading down.

I think Young goes to the Raiders, read Al Davis really likes him.And they cut Collins and did not get Culpepper yet.

I think both options are entirely possible with the number of QBs on the market right now. Titans are also talking about trying to shop Volek for a mid round pick. Al Davis does like VY, but he would rather have a strong armed guy like Cutler that needs work.

Cutler would SEEM to be the better fit for Oaklands deep vertical game, but supposidly the Lord of Darkness likes VY a lot. Could just be offseason smoke though.

I agree, with Moss and Porter there I think they'd prefer the stronger arm, more accurate QB as opposed to the more athletic one, and by cutting Collins I think they'll be looking for a guy that can make an impact sooner, which would be Cutler, although Vince will bring a little more attention to the team than Cutler. I think the Cardinals could definitely look at Vince since they don't have as much of a vertical passing game and they signed Kurt Warner to a 2-year extension so they can afford to have Vince sit the bench and learn for a couple years. I don't see the Lions taking Vince though, I don't think Mike Martz would like him for his system and I think he's willing to give Harrington a shot at improving, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them take a guy like Omar Jacobs in the 2nd round.
