Draft Grades

It's taking a VERY long time. Must really bite to be an MLS soccer player and know that your "major league" game's first kick is getting delayed for the completion of the 92nd pick in another league's draft.

That "B" grade reminds me of last year's first reads. We should now begin the two inevitable threads: GRADING THE DRAFT 1 day afterward, and the counterpoint YOU CAN'T GRADE A DRAFT FOR ___ YEARS.

Hey, we gotta do SOMETHING until camp starts.

that whole grading is messed up.

For one.. All but a handful of teams get B's and A's.. and all but a handful of those players will actually be great players in the NFL :P.

For two.. he bases his whole grading system on the teams needs, not the value of the player they got. Some great picks got lower grades because it wasnt a major need for the team.

Then he turns around and gives thomas davis to Carolina an A.. because it was a need? no.. because it was great value? no.. because he likes Thomas Davis!!

useless waste of webspace.

A little perspective on draft grades, courtesy of a post from almost a year ago:

2004 draft review by ESPN Insider

The Wilfork comments kinda make me smirk--the Texans came out VERY well on that choice but here they are again a year later, facing the same concerns on the D-line even AFTER signing Robaire with a truckload of money. I hope Payne lasts a full season--same with Walker--but do any of us seriously think that's possible? If this kid can perform well enough to be a backup, he may end up being a starter anyway, by default.
