News Article on the Jags. Sorry if its already been posted.

"Weaver admitted that his biggest concern is boosting ticket sales. The Jaguars have endured four consecutive losing seasons on the field, and their average attendance at Alltel Stadium has dropped each of the past five years to a record-low 53,509 last year.

All but two of the team's eight regular-season games in 2003 were blacked out on local television because of poor ticket sales, and more blackouts appear to be looming this year.

Although guaranteeing the Jaguars would increase their season-ticket base above last year's total of 53,000, Weaver noted the blackout problem and admitted that "we've got a long way to go'' when it comes to overall ticket sales.

"That's a big stadium we have to fill," said Weaver, whose franchise -- among the NFL's five most profitable teams as recently as the late 1990s -- has dropped into the league's bottom third in annual revenue.

Weaver said the financial cutbacks within the organization were prompted by his desire to streamline the organization and to become more personally involved in its day-to-day workings. (Jags version of Bud Adams)

well, I don't know. I can't say I "Just Love It" when I see a city and team struggling or an owner making scary "Bud Like" motions. The Jags are about to turn it around IMO and will be a tough nut to crack for the Texans in the next few years. Hopefully that will put things back in order there.

I like to see my divisional opponents suffer on the field but overall I think the NFL works best when it's stable. Owners like Bud (and I don't know if Weaver is or isn't like Bud) don't help the situation any.

No, I don't love it. I want every NFL team to sell out every game. That way the salary cap number goes up and we can keep all our stud players. The cap number changes according to NFL revenue, so lets root for all sellouts.

Mmm... So Jacksonville is having attendance problems ; with their improving team, it should improve. Just think Ole Bud was using Jacksonville to blackmailing us into taking down our distinctive scoreboard. What if he was there...move to Nashville.

Did JVille get a new stadium or is Alltel just a revamped Gator Bowl?

Small market, involved owner, lack of sellouts, no marketing director.
Can you say LA Jaguars. :hehe:

How about the Brownsville Jags? They can get the US and Mexican fans. It's a dumb suggestion and I know it would never happen, but then again someone suggested Jacksonville.

I wish no ill will on J-ville in regards to selling tickets. It is more satisifying to see the Texans beat the Jags in front of a full house of Jag fans. :)
