Don't Take the Bait. Wait at #8!!!!!

I have thought about it over and over about who we could trade up or down with. I've come to the conclusion that staying put is in our better interest.

We have gotten beaten up on these draft day deals and it is time we stick to our own. At #8 a player of high caliber is going to fall to us that would be a significant upgrade from what we have now at any position.

RB - Adrian Peterson could fall to us, or we could "settle" for Marshawn Lynch.

OL- Levi Brown is not someone I would not be upset with. Not sexy but very much worthy and necessary.

WR - I could be a little huh? at picking Ginn but he is still somewhat of an upgrade over our current #2 guys. Jarrett, I just don't know if he should go that early but he would be an upgrade too.

QB- If a guy like Quinn fell to us, it would be hard to pass him by and if your trying to develope him, it makes him a pretty good pick.

DL- Anything that helps Mario look better is a good pick IMO. Alan Branch and Okoye are most certainly upgrades over anything we have. Gaines Adams would do wonders for us.

LB - Again, anything that makes Demeco even better is a great pick. This is the one position I don't think we would address at #8 this year.

CB - There are a couple out there. Houston from Arkansas is good but maybe not #8. However, I could understand going that route.

Safety - I am actually hoping that if AP and the top two QBs are gone, we go this route with La'ron Landry or Reggie Nelson. I think those guys are what we need to make teams scared to throw on us. They make plays.

i am with you on that. only if we are trading down a few spots to pick up extra picks would i be ok with trading. there is a lot of talent all the way threw the second round if we could get 3 picks threw that talent, i think we could get 3 new starters and playmakers that would improve our team for now and the future.:dance2:

yeah, brown is not a sexy pick at all, but for all the complaining you guys have done about OL for a long time, it'd be a great pick. there's no shame in taking the unsexy pick.

Laron Landry at #8. I like Levi Brown, but OT Joe Staley or C Ryan Kalil seems to be high on the Texans radar. They will both be available in Rd. 2.

But if Brown was picked I'd be happy.

I used to be a Quinn hater but I watched some of his stuff on youtube and I have to say he looks good. I wouldn't mind Brown except that we might have to move him or Black/Salaam/Spencer to guard. I wouuld still rather have Landry but if he's gone (which is very possible thanks to those sneaky Vikings) then I would go ahead and take Quinn.

Thank you. You just moved up on my NFL food chain. Rep your way.

IMO - OL- Levi Brown is not someone I would not be upset with. Not sexy but very much worthy and necessary.

I'd like some rep! :)

Seriously though, I like Levi but I think we can do almost as well in the 2nd or 3rd. If Spencer comes back at all, Black and Salaam and a 3rd round rookie can do it. They love Spencer and Winston - they were 3rds.

I say take BPA (hopefully Peterson and Quinn are BOTH gone so we can get us a MAN at FS - Laron Landry), I take Kolb in the 2nd, and an OL or CB in the 3rd.

If AD and Quinn are both gone, I would BET BIG MONEY we trade back about 5-10 spots and get an extra low 2 or high 3.

Quite honestly Levi Brown isn't a sure enough NFL prospect at LT for me (at number 8 that is....especially with so many sure impact players that will be available at 8). And LT isn't the sort of position you draft high for for 'potential'....because they rarely pan out. And it would be a shame to waste even more time on another player we will be moving over to guard or the other side.

We need to be thinking Landry or Okeye if we are not trading down.

i believe we should wait at 8 or move up to the top 5.

There are 5 players in my opinion who are pretty bonafide.

Calvin Johnson - once in a century type wr prospect
Quinn - alot of ppl think he's Carr pt. 2, but he's not, he came from weis not tedford system.
Joe Thomas - franchise left tackle
Adrian Peterson - franchise running back
Jemarcus Russell - would be a top 10 pick in most drafts.

This is pretty much the consensus TOP 5.

Then the next 3 in my opinion are pretty even players.
Laron Landry - not the prospect sean taylor was, but close
Alan Branch - not the prospect john henderson was, but close
Gaines Adams - not the prospect T. Suggs was, but close

if we stay at 8, we will most likely draft one of these players, most likely Landry, Branch, or Adams.

In no particular order:

Russell
Quin
CJ
Ginn
Okaye
Adams
Anderson
Landry
Houston
Brown
Thomas
AP
Lynch
Branch

We could trade down 6 spots and still be guaranteed one of these guys.

So we could trade all the way down to 13 with St. Louis and pick up either an additional 2nd or 3rd, 4th, 5th rounder. At least according to this draft chart.http://www.nfldraftblitz.com/pick_value_chart.htm

I would take that knowing I would still get a player that will help our football team.
