Don't call us a rival

Check out this smug little offering by a Florida TU writer. A little premature nose in the air aloofness?

We're soooo beneath them. LMAO

Maybe they should start caring considering their record against us.

Still whining about a long snapper is hilarious (his name is Pittman not Patterson) and watch the replay - he didn't come anywhere close to "choking" anyone on that play. Whiners.

Hope to see a bunch of you Austin-heads at the Saxon in about 2 1/2 hours

Oh my god, how funny.

Indy can act like we are beneath them since we have never beaten them.

TN lost that privilege being swept this year and now has to look forward to challenging us again.

The jags need to worry about getting back to even (the best they can hope for this year) before they get all dismisive.

And how big a wuss does Henderson look complaining about the LONG SNAPPER hurting him? Whaaaa--and your 2nd string RB talked harshly to us.

OK this calls for a smiley-- :violin

Okay...so I have an email waiting for this guy once the game is over. And if we win, I'm going to send the score in HUGE numbers and sign it "A division opponent".

What an i d i o t.

sounds like denial-
  • an assertion that rivalry does not exist
  • refusal to believe in the rivalry
  • disbelief in the existance of the rivalry
  • refusal to satisfy rivalry
  • refusal to recognize or acknowledge rivalry
  • self denial to accomadate their own needs
  • an unconscious defense mechanism used to reduce anxiety by denying rivalry

setting themselves up for the inevitabilty of a loss and the Texans ruining thier season :heh:

Defensive tackle John Henderson still is fuming at Houston long snapper Bryan Patterson for choking him on a fake punt. Henderson was so enraged that he immediately retaliated, prompting a 15-yard personal foul penalty.

The Jaguars also didn't appreciate Texans running back Jonathan Wells starting a fight on their sideline in the final seconds, nor are they entirely sure Walker didn't mean to twist Byron Leftwich's left knee on a tackle in the first half.

Leftwich sprained his knee on that play, an injury that caused him to miss the next two games, but the Jaguars' quarterback did nothing this week to fan what the Texans apparently consider a bitter feud.

"I don't believe it was done to try to hurt me," Leftwich said this week. "Sometimes things like that happen."

Man what a bunch of crybabies. Wah Wah Wah

A win today (and putting a big hit on their playoff chances) would go a long way towards shaping this up as a rivalry.

This is great! The TV commentators keep talking about what a rivalry and "big match up" this game is.

Looks like the Jags are the only ones who think they're "above" us.

I started to send this guy an email but then I thought better of it. What could I possibly say that would turn this guys lightbulb on?

What this guy (and apparently, the Jags players) is that any team in your division should be considered a rival to some extent. This is just more proof (as though we needed any) that Jacksonville is in no way a football town. He can pull out that the Texans haven't existed for very long, but Houston has been a pro football town for decades.

Here is the email I sent this guy

Regarding your article:
http://www.jacksonville.com/tu-online/stories/122604/jag_17534878.shtml

Name one other team that got dominated worse than the Texans dominated the Jaguars this season!!??? I can't think of any????? Swept in the series with total score of 41-6. Ouch! The Jags have an expansion team in their division and they are losing the series 4-2!

Maybe the Jags aren’t worthy of being rivals of the Texans????? (ßPossible future article idea right there.)

This was my favorite part of your article.
"In other words, the Texans might want to wait a few more years -- and play a few games in December that matter -- before anointing anyone a rival."

Holy cow this made me laugh. Jacksonville hasn't even had a team for a decade and you guys are walking around like you have this great history. (Wake up call time!!!! You guys are not Green Bay, the Cowboys or the 49ers!!!) Remember Houston has well over 30 years of NFL history before a Jacksonville team ever touched the field.

Also when real football towns play "a few games in December that matter". They have a SELL OUT crowd and the fans show up to support the team.

Jacksonville’s Fans, Players, and apparently their Media should be embarrassed about both their attitude and their performance both on and off the field. This weekend was a total defeat for Jacksonville Football.

PS.
If the Texans beat the Browns and the Jags lose to the Raiders, I am too am going to wonder why the Texans would consider have a third place "Divisional Opponent" as a rival.
