Cowboys release Coakley
Irving, TX (Sports Network) - The Dallas Cowboys released linebacker Dexter Coakley on Tuesday.

Coakley finished this past season third on the team in tackles with 91, despite splitting time with Bradie James. He became just the fifth player in franchise history to reach the 1,000 tackle plateau, accomplishing the feat on November 21 versus the Ravens. He finished the year fourth on the club's all- time list with 1,046.

Coakley was drafted by Dallas in the third round of the 1997 draft. The eight- year veteran had a string of seven straight 100-tackle seasons end this past year.

Looks like big Derrick Johnson's gonna be wearing the star next fall. I sorta wished they cut Al Singleton instead, but it's all right.

Derrick Johnson+Bradie James(or Al Singleton)+Dat Ngyen= great LB team.

Or Dat Ngyen might be traded for Woodson, making Singleton replace him.

Wont pass Cleveland or Chicago. Dont count on it.

We're switching to the 3-4. I know it sounds crazy but I'd rather have Merriman than DJ in that system.

DJ will definately not pass Cleveland and Chicago. Cleveland needs help all over their LB core, and the bears are missing the last piece to their LB core (urlacher/briggs/?).
