Devastating

guys i heard the news while in the car and i must say i had a feeling of sadness. a little queezy feeling in my stomach as well. casserly has done it again. not to say that mario williams was a bad pick , except we didnt utilize the value of the #1 pick. i was waiting for tommorow to just sit on my couch and watch the texans pick bush. then i hear the news and once again i felt like casserly walked to my front door and took a khrup on my doorstep.
we are not a team that is one player away. we have multiple needs. ok so we didnt need vince young. ok i can understand that. ok so reggie bush is supposedly the greatest prospect to come out since faulk, but he doesnt fit a need so we wont take him. ok, im a little crushed, but makes sense. so now, who are we trading with and what did we pick up? nothing you say? mario williams at 1 you say? impossible, not when we OWN the draft and have multiple potential partners we can trade with and still get a pro bowl player that fits our needs. dont we also need a LT? i hear dbrick is the best to come along in a while, not likely to have a chance to pick up a player like this next year, right? ok so the trade doest fit. what about A.J hawk? we need a mlb dont we? ok so it doesnt fit, im sure we can trade with someone else in the top 10 and get compenated while still picking up a hawk like huff.
IF reggie was big tyming us then ok lets not get him. BUT, to sit there and not TRADE DOWN and MAXIMIZE the value is just idiotic. cassrly gets phillips hammered every time he makes a trade and manages to still phillips hammer us when we dont make a trade. that #1 pick had too much value to not trade it and come up with something good.

Come on Hawk couldnt even stop Young. We got a great defense being built so sit back and enjoy the sacks.

The pick was a good one. You listened to too much talk radio and bought into the media hype. Reggie just wasn't a good fit for the Texans -- if it wasn't for the media garbage, most folks would have recognized that on their own. Everybody was saying that Reggie was a guaranteed success -- but those who said that were forgetting or ignorant of Archie Griffin, Blair Thomas, Curtis Enis, Lawrence Phillips and Kiyanna Carter. All these guys were seen as can't-miss RBs as well. Plus, Bush would have been a part-time player on the Texans and you just can't burn a #1 overall for a guy who would get limited touches. Face it -- Williams was a good move in that it met a real need. And RB was NOT a need.

It is going to be frustrating though to see another team, likely the saints, make the fleecing and huge trade that the Texans couldn't. Now that there's a cap on how much Reggie can make, everyone in the league is going to try to make a move up...

i agree 100% it was by far the worst use of a number 1 pick:thumbdown

Drafting a RB who would get limited touches when you've already got a good to very good one would be by far the worst use of a #1 for a team that had so many real needs.

Some teams need a RB, other teams don't. The Texans didn't. Let the others trade away.
