The National Football League withheld as much as $120 million to the players over the course of 3 years,
according to the Wall St. Journal. The NFL Players Association discovered that the league mischaracterized funds that should have counted toward the salary cap as part of an audit.
NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy characterized it as a “technical accounting issue under the CBA involving the funding of stadium construction and renovation projects.”
That flies in the face of the fact that the league contested the matter, which in turn put the case before an arbitrator.
