Demetri Goodson

News is going to be slow now that the draft is over, so I posted this for those that care:

I figured some of y'all might know who he is because of his brother. Meech is a local kid that I played football with at Klein Collins High School in Spring.

Gonzaga starting point guard Demetri Goodson has decided to transfer in order to play football, the school announced Tuesday.

The 6-foot, 175-pound junior would have two years of football eligiblity remaining, according to Gonzaga, which does not offer football. Goodson is the brother of Carolina Panthers running back Mike Goodson, who played at Texas A&M.

"I have decided to pursue football next year," Goodson said in a statement. "I would like to thank my coaches and staff for the opportunity to play here. I also want to thank the city of Spokane and all of the Zags fans who have supported me over the years. It's been an awesome experience."...

He's a good kid. I figure he will probably go to A&M like Mike did. So Aggies fans can probably rejoice in this news. He played CB for us in HS so I figure that is where he will end up. Great athlete who has always had his head on straight.

i'd been reading about this on texags for the past couple of days and heard that he's interested in coming to a&m possibly, but I just don't see a&m returning the interest with a scholarship offer. no offense to him, but he hasn't played football in five years and will only have 2 years left to play due to ncaa eligibility rules, so I don't see the ag's taking a flier on him in that case, though it's always possible... however if he decides to try to walk on and pay his own way into a&m (god knows brother mike can afford it), there's a high probability he'll make the team and possibly get some playing time eventually as we have 3 or 4 senior DBs this year..

I think the most viable option for him would be texas state where he already has a connection with franchione or another smaller school in texas. possibly even a juco if he feels it.

anyways, here's to hoping he makes the right decision for him

I think those are both likely options.

He could do a JUCO for a year. They have a half brother, Jakar Hamilton, who went that route and now starts at safety for Georgia.

And Texas State would probably love to have him. He's going to be behind in the mental part, but as far as I can tell he is still a great athlete. That counts for something.
