DeMarcus Ware

Waterboy
is such a nice guy. No bravado!! Listening to interview with him right now. Just a nice, hardworking guy. According to him, he expects to be chosen late first round or early second round. Went to KC and they want him to play end, and went to San Diego who wants him to play linebacker. Also visited Carolina. he ran a 4.46 at his proday, and a 4.5 at the combine. He is no longer visiting teams. The Sporting New Warroom compares him to Leonard Little.
source: Rick Ballou Show on Sporting News

He said he'd just be happy to be a first day pick...Also, the thing I picked up on is that he's a really humble guy...Normally guys don't say, "Yes sir" and "No sir" in interviews, but Ware did...

I heard it too.

Kansas did DE drills and in SD they had him in linebacker drills. He said that most teams have him as a OLB/DE.

Late 1st early 2nd was what he expected out of the draft. Very humble youngster (sounded young). Sounds bright and is well spoken.

Said he played all over the team in HS so he had no position going into College. He was real small he said, and needed more time to develop so he went to the smaller school and they eventually made him a rush end because of his speed.

Said he ran a 4.46 on his pro day.

its difficult for most of us to evaulate someone we've never watched play & trust word of mouth and writing on draft boards/internet sites, but Demarcus clearly seems to be the Dunta Robinson of the draft. what are the odds that he is still there at 13? do we have to add his name to the list of untouchables not there @13? hopefully 13 is indeed lucky for the Texans. by the way ourlads has Ware ranked exactly as the 13th highest ranked player in the draft :hmmm:

Ware is going to be a top 15 pick...Beerdude was saying that Ware is this year's D-Rob because he has all of a sudden seen a big rise in his stock right about a week before the draft...

EXACTLY

hey I'd even be willing to pick-him up at the airport if he needs a ride to Relient for a private workout this week, whatever it takes, well almost whatever :heh:

The NFL network has shown a great deal of footage on Ware at the combine, especially on the show "playbook". To my untrained eyes he looks very stiff and dropping into coverage could be a disaster. His game footage shows his speed to the quarterback against bottom tier div 1A schools, but no real coverage ability or skills to play in space. To me he is much more Antwan Peek (i.e. 3rd round pick) than Farrior/McGinest/Vrabel/type. I really think he would be a stretch at 13. By comparison, all the footage I have seen of David Pollack is good speed (4.7 40 vs 4.5 for Ware) but more quickness and agility. Plus Pollack's game footage is against top tier SEC O-linemen and he reaked havoc on them. Can you say Terrell Suggs? I would really like to see the Texans trade down 7 or 8 spots to get more picks and then get Pollack in the late 1st round.

David Pollack is NO Terrell Suggs!!! He won't have an impact like Suggs in first year. Just a somewhat undersized high motor player.

I admit Pollack may be a bit more of a gamble than Suggs; but doesn't the knock on Pollack being undersized sound familiar....how about the next Bruschi? (minus the stroke)

Arizona Daily Wildcat
April 22, 1996
When the New England Patriots used their late third-round pick in the NFL draft (No. 86 overall) Saturday to take Arizona defensive end Tedy Bruschi, the NCAA's most prolific pass rusher could finally relax and enjoy the rest of the draft.

"I knew in my mind all year that I was one of the top defensive players in college football," Bruschi said. "That's the way I felt about it and that's the way I still feel about it. But it's different in the pro ranks. I realize that. I realize that people put a lot of emphasis on looks and size."

Bruschi, a two-time All-American, found Saturday that his NCAA record-tying 52 sacks were not enough to overcome his relatively small size:shocked (6-foot-2, 250 pounds) at the defensive line position.

Yet a successful college career that included a 1993 defensive MVP award in the Fiesta Bowl and 74 career tackles for losses helped Bruschi to attract the interest of the Patriots.

Pollack is 6-foot-3, 276 pounds.

Pollack had 36 sacks and 58 tackles for loss in his career. He also was named MVP of the 2005 Outback Bowl in which he recorded three QB sacks, three tackles-for-loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one pass deflection. (big time player in big games)

I'm tired of people complaining about his short arms too- give me a break.

He is a spark plug, good guy who would fit right in with the Texans IMO

It's a known fact that Ware is a Parcells guy, if he is there when the Cowboys pick, the Tuna will draft him.

LT style player that Parcells is hoping to get for the OLB spot in their new 3-4 defense.

sure the Cowboys would take Demarcus.........................with the 20th pick! but I seriously doubt with Merriman, Rolle or PAC on the board they don't select one of those guys at #11 :twocents:

San Diego should take Barron or Williamson & that would leave an unobstructed path to Demarcus for the Texans :howdy:

IMO, I don't think Ware will make it pass San Diego because they have one of the worst pass rushing games in the league and they will be looking to fix that problem. This dude will gone before 13, either to the Cowboys or the Chargers who both are looking to upgrade their LB positions. I wouldn't mind having Ware on the team , but I just don't see him making it to 13.

1. Mike Williams
2. Braylon Edwards
3. Ronnie Brown
4. Cedric Benson
5. Aaron Rodgers
6. Alex Smith
7. Antrell Rolle
8. Carnell Williams
9. Derrick Johnson
10. Shawne Merriman
11. "Pac Man" Jones
12. C. Rogers
13. T. Williamson

For Ware to go 12, or even 13, which players drop?????????

Is that your top 13 Texans board or who you think will go in the top 13? If it's the latter, then I'd take off Carlos Rogers and possibly even Mike Williams since word is many teams aren't as high on him as internet draftniks are...

i saw the same show on the nfl network when they re-aired it today...the puzzling thing to me is that ware looked akward in one clip of linebacker drills but then seemed flawless in another clip on LB drills...the clip of pollack did remind me a lot of tedy bruschi...merriman seems to be slipping on some mock drafts...i think on draft day you'll see williamson drafted higher than some might expect...i think san diego will take a long hard look at him at the 12th pick IF he's still there...also look for phili to trade up several spots in order to draft the reciever they want since it's likely they'll release the ***** freddie mitchell and with terrell owens contract troubles they might need a top tier reciever...personally i think you'll see saban trade down in order to pick up a second round pick so he has a chance to draft his corner corey webster

but back to the linebacker situation...i do see us drafting a OLB on the first day of the draft...i also see it being more in the second round than the 1st...for some strange reason i see us drafting a player than not many of us have thought of leaving this board in total chaos...i.e. cedric benson

MWilliams may slide out of the top 10 - that is per Casserly on the radio last week.
If MWilliams slides, then Rolle and PacMan go early, which means Washington or Dallas may take CRogers (everyone forgets that Dallas really needs another CB (Newman underperformed and Henry won't be enough).

If MWilliams slides, HE would go to San Diego at 12 over anyone else - local guy with a big upside at one of their weak spots. They can get good D at the bottom of the 1st.

If CRogers is there, gotta take him.

MikeMc is right, Ware is just about about a lock for the 11th spot. The rumors/news here in Dallas are all pointing to Ware going to the Cowboys at 11, over any CB and Merriman. It's just about at the bankable stage.

I was under that impression earlier in the offseason, but we already have good depth at CB and if Glenn/Dunta were to get injured, I think Lewis Sanders or Demarcus Faggins could step in and hold their own for until the starter is healthy...

Also, if MWilliams was there at 13, I think he would be great opposite AJ.

He may be, but we'll never find out since Cass isn't high on him this year and wasn't high on him last year...

Glenn is here for 2 more years max - so CRog would be a good pick

MWilliams would be a good complement - Casserly may rank him out of the top 10, that does not mean he does not want him.
MWilliams may be limited due to his speed, but his size will let him abuse one on one coverage within 15 yards.
