deja vu for Fangio?

Wolf

100% Texan
Could this happen to Capers?

He arrived with a reputation as a builder of solid defenses, but that was sullied during his last two seasons in Indianapolis when the Colts' defensive ranking dropped into the bottom third of the league in 2000 and then plummeted to 29th last season.

As the Colts finished 6-10 and missed the playoffs for the first time in three years, it was Fangio who took the blame.

Team president Bill Polian told then coach Jim Mora in early January that Fangio had to go. Polian believed Fangio's system was too complex for a team with six first-time starters.

Mora thought otherwise. He insisted the problem was not the system but that Fangio didn't have enough good players to make the system work. When Mora refused to get rid of Fangio, he was fired and Fangio wound up in Houston.

I know Fangio did have a solid reputation before the Colts and us.. but???

Yikes!

We could plummet to 32nd in the league under his control...hope not...but it won't surprise me in the least.

I guess that was in 2001.. but main sticking point was the defense..

owner says the defense is too complicated.. yet Mora said they need more talent on the defense ?

I wonder what the texans problem is? Youth ? complication? i<insert own excuse here >

They seem to have the talent. They've just lost their edge. The attitude that defenses need to dominate opposing teams. It's leadership, or lack of it. We've lost three starters last year, and I never really bought into Sharper and Glenn being "too slow" for us. They were leaders, and that quality cannot be measured against mere physical stats.

Whenever we're on D, we just look simple. Not a lot of movement, no fake blitzes, just a lack of a sense of urgency. It's like they are playing not to get hurt (except D.Rob. That dude is nuts!)

I remember the "too complex for the players" reason wanting to get rid of Fangio in Indy. That definitely does NOT seem to be the problem with the Texans.
