My hunch is the Texans talked to him in anticipation of a CBA deal getting done so the cap would jump another $10 mil and the June 1st cut option could be used to spread the hit. Seems to me cutting Walker without a new CBA is the worst case scenario. In fact, it looks like it would eat up so much of the remaining cap room the Texans would have to cut or restructure some other players just to get their RFA's and rookies signed. Either a new CBA or waiting a year and cutting Walker in an uncapped year seem like much better options.
