D'Brick vs Robert Gallery

Who was the better prospect coming out of college? I remember Gallery was supposed to be the next great LT in the NFL. I guess kind of like Tony Boselli. Same for D'Brick.
 
i would probably take brick over galerry just because of his athletism...dont get me wrong gallery is a big nasty tackle that has done wonders for the raiders offensive line, but i think brick has a slight advantage over him

Bigger
Stronger
Faster
Quicker
Much better run blocker

all of his combine drills were better than d'bricks
 
Wow this is an easy question it is Robert Gallery. That guy is a beast. If the Raiders werent so set at LT he would be playing there. Since he can play either side will and Sims cannot the Raiders are in a win win with those guys. If they can pick up Charles Spencer or another G in the second or third they will really improve their line.

Coming out Gallery was rated higher than Ferguson. They are both great pass blockers, but Gallery is/was stronger, nastier, and a much better run blocker.
 
This thread is shocking me. I thought pre-draft hyperbole states that Ferguson is the best left tackle since Orlando Pace.

Seriously though, I like to see this comparison discussed. It is more reasonable than looking at Pace.

Gallery was a better overall prospect, but one I never had a whole lot of faith in. I've liked D'brick for 2 years now, but Gallery had him beat on many drills. Still, I would take D'brick merely because his arm length and the scheme we run, along with his outstandingly quick feet.

6'5" 290lbs and has the frame to comfortably add weight. One of the most athletic offensive linemen I've ever seen. Excellent, athletic build. Big wingspan. Shows good footwork and positions his body well. Anchors extremely well. Moves really well in space and does a good job getting to the second level on run plays. Sustains blocks well. Very quick feet. 4 year starter for the Cavaliers. Quick off the snap. Technique is fundamentally sound. High character kid. I don't want to go overboard here but, I've never been more impressed with an offensive tackle at the collegiate level. The only concern I have with Ferguson is his weight. As silly as it sounds, he looks like a huge tight end as his build is very athletic. I feel that he'll need to add some weight at the next level to handle larger pass rushers and maintain his effectiveness in the run game. It's my opinion that D'Brickashaw is one of, if not the top prospect in this draft class and could very well be the top overall pick.

I thought Gallery had turned into a bust for Oakland. Not a Ryan Leaf type, but I haven't heard of him being that franchise lineman they can build around.

Exactly, he can't even beat Sims for the starting LT spot. I might be wrong, but isn't Sims a converted guard???:confused:

predicated on a sweetheart compensation package D'Brick would be the perfect fit for the Texans new offensive zone blocking scheme :cool:

maybe so he was inserted into the wrong system for early success, where as if the Texans are somehow able to trade down for D'Brick he will shine early in Kubiacs system :)
 
I think we need to talk about who was the better pure prospect. Hindsite is 20/20, and the fact that Gallery hasn't replaced Sims at the LT spot makes it easy to say that D'Brick is the better prospect. Comparing them both as pure prospects, I think Gallery was better, but it's just my own loose opinion. Bigger, better numbers. I'm sure other people will have more qualified opinions than mine though.
 
is it that gallery hasnt beaten sims, or they get the best balance with him on the right? gallery's looked good in the few times i've seen him play, and the raiders have noone else to play the right side. i think too many judge sims without ever looking at gallery and automatically think "he couldnt beat out this guy?" was he ever asked to or given the chance to? outside of the texans (pendry), gallery went to the worst team possible to progress quickly and become a stud. d'brick might have more luck.

i think gallery was more a complete player when he came out. he was equally as talented in the run game as the pass, & showed a ferocity. d'brick is a specialist. he's a pass blocking LT only, and is better equipped for the position with long arms, quicker feet, and slightly better technique. he doesnt have gallery's aggression or run blocking power.
