The AJC did an article on small-school prospects, and featured Akwasi Owusu-Ansah as one of the prospects.

10. Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, DB, Indiana-Pa.: A huge cornerback at 6-1, 205. The native of Ghana has recovered from a shoulder injury suffered in the team’s season finale. He has broken the 4.4 barrier in the 40-yard dash. He could be a good mid-round pick by the Falcons, but is still considered raw. Some have compared him to Arizona’s Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, who came out of Tennessee State.

Given the small-school precedent with Antwuan Molden and Jacoby Jones, and the big-size-DB precedent with Golver Quin, Molden, and Fred Bennett, this looks to be a guy that could very well be on our radar.

NFL Draft Scout lists him as a 4th rounder.
 
like him too but clearly developmental, maybe raw enough to convert? Texans statement when releasing Dunta Robinson was something like we still have "great" cb's on roster (don't agree with that) but maybe they like his upside & they need to add talent in back end. I'm very interested in getting my hands on some film to see how he tackles & how physical he plays because he has the size (6'0 1/4 207 32 1/2 9 1/8) & speed (4.47) to convert to FS. what impresses me about him is his wingspan, like a vacum, dude can back peddle too, need to see his break on ball & reaction instinct :)

Agreed, he looks the part.

I like Myron Lewis from Vandy 6'1 205 arm length 34 in. Ran a 4.45 at Combine. Has Vandy smarts.

Icould see taking Owusu-Ansah, Lewis or Butler in the 4th RD. Hopefully one of these guys fall to the 5th rd. Double dipping in the 4th/5th rds would be great.

There isn't really much difference between these guys and Franks,Cox or Ghee who will be drafted in the 2nd rd. IMHO
 
its a no-no from me. drafting this guy would result in a veritable MB bloodbath when it comes time to spell his name..... and alot of us still have trouble with kevin walterS four years later lol
 
He definitely fits the Smithiak mold of a big CB who can run but raw instincts.

Similar CBs acquired by the Texans during the Smithiak era are: Fred Bennett, Jacques Reeves (FA), and Antwaun Molden.

Also, the Texans have taken at least one CB in the draft since Rick Smith has come aboard. Methinks that's a draft philosophy and eventually we're gonna hit a homerun with these mid-late round CBs.

It's highly possible that's already happened.

That's exactly what i'm thinking. I also don't know how keen Smith will be on drafting a small school athlete again. I know that JJ has started to show some real promise but we need a guy who can step in and compete for a starting spot day 1, not another project. If Smith can somehow get a corner in the first (Wilson or Haden presumably) and Owusu-Ansah in the 4th-5th as a backup I wouldn't mind that happening at all.
 
We don't need another mid-late round CB project from a small school, we need starter level talent at CB not depth.
 
According path to draft this guy ran very well again at Ohio State's pro (from Columbus) 4.35ish

His name translates to "Born on Sunday". That's what we would call him.
 
Ansah is more than a project. The defense he played in had him at CB and then often as a free safety. He had fewer tackles as the defense had linebackers doing most of tackling and his job was to stop the long ball. It was a very successful defense. We need a cover CB. He is a cover CB that also has FS skills; sort of a Earl THomas in reverse. Way back when I identified Kyle Wilson as a player to move up the boards. Now many are predicting he will be gone by #20. Ansah is now a 4th and quite possibly will be drafted before.
