Who do you think really helped their team on Day 1?

I like all the teams that had two picks, kinda hard to screw it up, but St. Louis, in that division... I think they helped their team the most.

Greg Robinson..... I thought he was the one player that could improve the whole team. Just what he brings in the run game would make us a hard team to get off the field, & turn a lot of field goals into TDs. I think he does the same for St. Louis. Jake Long will hold down the left side, protecting Bradford's backside. Robinson is going to earn an all-pro selection running over the NFL.

Aaron Donald.... You've got Quin, you've got Long, you've got a world of trouble now they've got Aaron Donald coming up the middle.

Cleveland, Gilbert & Manziel. Not the way I'd have gone, but bold...

Minnesota, Anthony Barr & Teddy Bridgewater. I like both guys. Barr is going to be a monster. I think he's going to be better than Mack, better than Clowney... Bridgewater, maybe Patterson will start looking like the deep threat his fans would have you believe he is.

When you have 2 first round picks and use them on players at the right spots you are probably considered winners...

I really like the Steelers pick as well. And I think Atlanta got a lot better. TB got themselves a star in Evans outside of the top 5. I think those would be my picks.

Oh and of course Houston, getting the basically consensus best player at a high valued position of need.

Rams with Robinson @ 2

Raiders with Mack

Falcons with Matthews

Vikings with Barr & Bridgewater (who will benefit from A. Peterson)

Ravens with Moseley

Packers with Clinton-Dix (don't know if they needed that, though)

Cardinals. Traded back from #20 and then landed, IMO, the best Safety in the draft in Bucannon. Also liked the Ravens taking Mosley and the Bears taking Fuller.

Winner: The Browns will be relevant again as long as JFF stays healthy. Added 2 players and a 2015 #1. Sacks removed from Dawg Pound heads.

Day 1 rearview mirror...

Jaguars. I'm a Bortles fan, but Khalil Mack and David Carr was doable.

Lawrence/Attaochu mitigates much of it imo.

Texans- avoided making a mistake and drafting a QB to high. Got the best player in the draft. :swatter:

Clowney - gets to live every non-Texans fantasy of being a Texan.

Losers
Bortels - Draft by the Jaguars. Ouch.
Manziel - drafted by the Browns. Serious FML moment for that kid.

Good point, I didn't realize the trade involved Buffalo's 1st & 4th round picks next year.

So they traded down, stayed in the top 10 & picked up a 1st next year.

Amazing.

I think Buffalo screwed up. They basically used two 1st rounders on Watkins. Good player, but not worth that and they were already okay at WR.

I also think Carolina messed up. Benjamin needs a ton of work and would be best off if there was no pressure on him. In Carolina, he will immediately be looked at as the #1 WR. I see him as a bust waiting to happen.

St. Louis had an awesome first round.

Arizona was the most impressive too me, though. I echo WolverineFan's thoughts. They traded back and still got the #1 S.

st louis obviously won day 1.

i'd say the ravens and steelers got exactly who they needed, both getting linebackers that fit their style.

9) Texans get it right

Don't let all the drama that took place Thursday fool you; the Houston Texans won Round 1 of the 2014 NFL Draft.

I wrote early in April that the decision the Texans faced with the No. 1 overall pick was easy. Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is a freak, the best player in the draft. At this point, all I can do is wish good luck to the opposing offensive coordinators and quarterbacks who will have to deal with Clowney and J.J. Watt.

Between Clowney and new coach Bill O'Brien, Houston made some major upgrades this offseason. The Texans are back in the playoff hunt.

With Josh Gordon potential season suspension, I have to retract my endorsement a bit. Good moves, but no "Mike Evans" WR for JFF.

I think you will see Cleveland target someone like Davante Adams or Allen Robinson this round to give Manziel a weapon.
