Davis to have surgery

Texans RB Davis has knee surgery

NFL.com wire reports

HOUSTON (Dec. 28, 2005) -- Houston Texans running back Domanick Davis had arthroscopic knee surgery and will miss the season finale at San Francisco.

Davis missed four games, including the last two, with knee inflammation.

"Before when he'd had swelling in there, it would go down when you gave him rest and time off of it," coach Dom Capers said. "But the swelling hadn't left."

Davis will fall short of 1,000 rushing yards for the first time in his three-year career. He has 976 yards after running for more than 100 yards his last two outings.

Replacement Jonathan Wells, who has 173 yards and two touchdowns in the last two games, also is nursing an injury. Wells has a bruised thigh and did not practice.

If Wells can't play, rookie Vernand Morency will likely get his first career start against the 49ers.

Free safety Jammal Lord was elevated from the practice squad to take Davis' roster spot.

It's too bad that Davis isnt going to hit the 1000 yard mark this year but it'll be nice to see Morency get a chance to show what he can do.

Not if you've seen him run this year. :ok:

Okay. I know it's just surgery but I feel that the Bush pick has just made itself that much more presentable. Not only is Davis having Surgery but it will be interesting to see how he comes back from that.

Arthroscopic surgery is not a big deal at all and will not prevent him from coming back to football as good as he's ever been. Arthroscopic surgery is not going in and messing with or repairing and ligaments or anything else like that, it's basically just draining the swelling and cleaning out scar tissue and other junk that are currently hindering him. While it will take a month or so for his surgery to heal up and everything, if anything he should be better after the surgery than he's been the last month or two since he initially injured his knee.
