Raiders | Moss would welcome Culpepper reunion
Tue, 24 Jan 2006 06:34:36 -0800

Sean Jensen, of the Pioneer Press, reports there has been plenty of speculation that Minnesota Vikings QB Daunte Culpepper may be on the trading block and Oakland Raiders WR Randy Moss weighed in on the subject Monday, Jan. 23. "I will welcome Daunte with anything that I do, on the field or off the field," Moss said on "The James Brown Show," on Sporting News Radio. "It would be up to me and he to make it work, and I think that the success we had in Minnesota is why we can make something like that work." "One thing I have come to figure out is that this game that we play has gotten me and Daunte kind of distant. But you know, I think about reuniting us, or something like that, and taking it to another level," Moss said on the show. "I'm not saying (Culpepper) is going to become a Raider, but if there was any interest in bringing him to Oakland, I've got my arms open to anybody who wants to come out here and win a Super Bowl. That's what I'm working for."

hmmm.....

Who would the Vikes play at QB then? Brad Johnson is a glass cannon at best one hit away from the bench......

Woah, now wait a minute. The Raiders draft 6th.....

What if Childress is trying to set up a trade for the 2nd or 3rd pick to draft Vince. He HAS experience with mobile QBs.....

Very interesting rumor.

Wait a minute....

Who does Reggie Bush remind you of most in the Pro game today?

Lines up as a WR? Lines up in the backfield? Lines up in the slot?

Brian Westbrook...

Maybe he isn't eyeballing Vince at all. Perhaps he is looking for the next Brian Westbrook?

That still leaves the question unanswered as to who they would play at QB. Johnson isn't the answer long term.

JT. O'Sullivan is 3rd on their depth chart. he blew up NFLE last season. that doesn't necessarily translate into starting in the NFL, though, a few starters at QB did find their way to the NFL via NFLE.

I think you mean Brian Westbrook. Michael Westbrook was the WR bust for the Redskins (Kordell Stewart's favorite target at Colorado).

you are correct sir. my mistake.

I heard about this today at work...not sure on when/if it will happen but it gives everyone something to think about

That would be a huge mistake if Minnesota let Culpepper go. If it wasn't for Peyton, Culpepper would have been the league MVP in 2004. Daunte got injured in the 1st quarter of the 1st game of 2005 and wasn't the same. He finally got put out of his misery when he had the season ending injury. I think it would be a huge mistake to let him go.

yea, i get the feeling the new ownership is trying to clean house to correct the negative off field image the team has by removing all of the "old leadership" figures, including the QB, who was apparently involved in the love boat fiasco.

If they got the 6th pick in the draft, they could land Jay Cutler or try to swing a deal to move up.

I agree. So many teams are 100% hard up for quality at the QB position. Brad Johnson filled in nicely, but there's a reason why he's not starting in Tampa (or somewhere else) anymore. Culpepper had one bad year... but I'd still rank in in the top ten in the league, easily.
