Dallas tried to trade Eddie George?

I found this at the TOMB, so I do not know if it is true nor do I have a link...

According to John McClain on 104.5 the Zone in Nashville Wednesday, the Dallas Cowboys tried to trade Eddie George to the Miami Dolphins prior to the season opener.

Head coach Bill Parcells was not pleased with the signing in the first place, but played along. He is not certain Eddie will continue to see much playing time, noting that fourth-string reserve Rashaard Lee received many of the carries on Sunday in the second half, even with Jones out and Eddie available.

Aside from the lone 23-yard run, the Cowboys were VERY unimpressed with George in the pre-season and attempted to move him to Miami, but the deal did not go through. McClain did not have details, he said he had just learned about it.

The Dallas Cowboys would like to use Eddie as a short-yardage back, but are "privately concerned that he is just too slow getting to the line of scrimmage" and can't hit the hole.

Man, wish that would've gone through. I haven't been a big supporter of George since his last year at OSU.

unfortuneatly he is washed up... Best example of it. and the Titans look great for it. Cowboys are a team in need of a back and they wont keep him. He is too slow to hit the holes as a short yardage back... he wont get 500 yards this season.

I think the term "washed up" implies he was good at one time.

Twice in his 8 year career he was able to manage better than 4.0 per carry (4.1 in both '96 and '99). His career avg of 3.7 wreaks of sub-mediocrisy.

Other than carrying the ball 300+ times a season, I have not been impressed with his NFL career.

Gee. I bet there are tons of running backs playing and also retired that wish they had the career Eddie has had. He's been durable,he's a hard runner and he is a team guy. He's not flashy and never has been but he's been a real solid pro.
