I really think he will have a break out year. I'm thinking 1600 Yrds.

How many do you guys think he'll get?

I think the point was that D2 has more to gain in fantasy than any other player on the team.
If this comes to pass, the Texans wll have a GREAT year.

Are you talking about the Texans...a 2-14 team...with the #1 draft pick last year? 13-3...a lock? A running back duo wouldn't have even close to that big of an impact after one of the worst seasons in the history of the NFL. I don't want to sound pesimistic, as I think we can go 8-8...but 13-3 as a lock is a little crazy if you ask me.

I'm with you on this one. If D. Davis can stay healthy majority of the year because he will get hurt, I can see roughtly 1400 yards rushing and 400 yards receiving. His best year, 2004 Davis rushed for almost 1200 yards (1188yrds)and almost 600 yards receiving (588yrds).....
 
I love DD, but the guy has not been able to stay healthy, what makes people think this is the year? We can only pray as Texan fans it is, but the offense will also be different. You can expect Kubs to use different backs often and throw more than they did in Denver. QB's love to air it out, and this will be no change in a QB mindset of our head coach. Although he was the o-coord in Denver, the Head Coach makes the final decision, and his passing was actually limited to Shanahan's run oriented schemes to control clock. When you look at the pass-run percentage in Denver, it was tilted to the air slightly, but i think passing philosophy will go even further in Houston, especially in our shoot-em-out conference. Look for their to be a 55-45% pass-to-run ration. Makes sense with them bringing in a TE, and TRUE #2, not drafting Bush due to a one back set most of the time. DD will get numbers, but I expect 1,200 rushing, 500 receiving!
 
No Way DD gets 1400 or anything close to that next year or any year after...maybe on madden...but I dont think DD will ever surpass the 1200 yard mark...

I share the same sentiments that most people here have about D.D. He's got to show he can stay healthy for an entire season. We know he's a very productive back when he's on the field. Hopefully this year he can play most of the season. If he can do that I think we will win some games this year.
 
Sorry to chime in here with just 2 cents, but it is my opinion that RB is still one of the weakest spots on the team. With the other being the secondary.

We may not have a superstar running back, but I think that in this system with the RB's we do have, IMO in will be one of our stronger positions production wise next season...

I don't really aggree with your assessment of our RB position, but it is also probably one of the easiest to shore up in the NFL. We only need a 1,000 to 1,300 yard back and with a decent back up. The talent is out there with good coaching and scouting of talent and you can get good bargains.

I have a lot of faith Kubiak can make the running back position work without paying top dollar and/or investing top draft picks.
 
If Carr can open our passing game up this year and show what we are capable of in that aspect then the run will be less expected therefore giving DD a 1200+ yard season 1500 at most

Remember he beat out alot of Talent Rookies, Bolden, Vilma, Johnson.

I think this is a make it or Break it year.

Within Kubiaks system I doubt any back will get 1500 yards. If you look at Denver yes they produced a fair few backs that got 1000 yards but how many got much more than that. (I'm thinking of Portis but he's the only one I can think of).

Not only that for Davis to stay healthy he's got to be used sensibily which means he wont get the number of carries to get up around 1500.

I can see him getting 1200 at max but I can also see the rest of the RB core adding another 800 - 1000.

1600 yards ... that's a 100 yard game average ...... I find it reasonable that he could average 100 yards a game ... I don't find it reasonable that he'll play 16 games though

yeah i guess thats why the guys getting paid millions to make these descisions didnt draft bush,,,CAUSE RB is the weakest spot on the team.... HAHA not likely. D.D is very capable of starting for any NFL team, but i'm glad he's on ours.

I agree with you about DD being a quality back, however, after DD right now it looks like a big drop off of proven talent. I have been extremely optomistic about this year, but DD is beginning to worry me. It would appear his knee(s) are a question mark right now. I don't think the coaching staff forsaw what is happening in this case. I think everyone including DD thought he would be just fine. If DD can not go, then we do have a problem at running back.

If he is able to go, then I still feel it is in the best interest of this ball club to play the game like the 49ers did for years. They set up the run by establishing the passing game. Once the passing game was established they used the run to effectively take time off the clock and seal the game. That puts less wear and tare on your running back(s). When a team is not deep at the RB position this is one way to deal with it. We will just have to wait and see what happens.

I disagree with you completely. That is why the guys getting paid millions to make these descisions are out trying to get Bennett from NO. Explain that if DD is so all and mighty, which he isnt...

well why have a back up QB for carr,,,,or a back up corner for D-Rob,,,,or any second string players. Hmmmm answer me that buddy.

they've also had a 1000+ rusher in 10 of 11 years coaching in denver (davis & anderson splitting carries in 01, neither hitting 1000) . if DD can stay healthy, and it's not something his track record favors, i think he can hit 1500+ fairly easily.
