Cowboys may get their own channel

Agreement near with Comcast for 24-hour station, sources say

I have edited the article for length and content. CaC

By JEAN-JACQUES TAYLOR / The Dallas Morning News

IRVING – The Dallas Cowboys are close to an agreement with Comcast Corp. to create a cable TV channel that would air around-the-clock Cowboys programming, sources familiar with the team's negotiations said Monday.

Although the Cowboys can't televise their preseason games in another NFL market, such as Houston, they could air the rest of their programming.

Because there is no NFL team in Los Angeles, the Cowboys could take advantage of marketing opportunities in Southern California by having the channel available to Comcast subscribers there.

The Cowboys completed their training camp in Oxnard, Calif., on Friday and have agreed to return in 2005. Oxnard is about an hour north of Los Angeles.

Hmmmmm.....remodeling the Rose Bowl, girls drumming up interest in LA LA land. Putting pressure on Arlington maybe? LA Cowgirls, doesn't sound too outlandish.....does it? :hehe:

I love conspiracy theories. :thumbup

When you are in Atlanta you will find an Atlanta Falcons channel so this is not a new idea. I watched it not so very long ago. It's repeat programming, coach's shows, and if I had been a Falcons fan I suppose I would have enjoyed it more. As it was it was just sort of a novelty thing. Like the Golf Channel.

The Cowboys in the Landry years trained in Thousand Oaks. So them going to California to training camp is not a new idea either.

I remember it well, back when it was a great franchise. But thats all history now. Do not be surprised if Jerruh is seduced by LA, it's all about the $$$. :hehe:

Jerry makes millions in Dallas. I can't see them ever moving but you know if they do they do. I'm too old , I guess, to worry about what these owners do anymore.

We arent like the Houston Oilers
Thats a good one, but at least the Houston Oilers played in Houston, the Dallas Cowboys dont even play in Dallas...but this has already been discussed on this board...

Bunch of teams are like that. Take the NY Jets and Giants, they dont even play in the state of NY but in New Jersey. Or even the Skins they dont play in the state capitol's city

What does that have to do with anything. The Giant or the Jets don't play in NY. Never understood what that had to do with anything.

So if the Oliers were still here and moved to Pasadena(TX) they would still have been the Oilers.

Beside, Irving is in Dallas county.
