IRVING, Texas (AP) - After seeing the way his aging running back, even older quarterback and questionable group of cornerbacks closed the preseason, Bill Parcells considers the Dallas Cowboys still a work in progress.

"I'm going to be looking at the waiver wire, that's for sure. I'm going to be looking pretty close," Parcells said following a 24-20 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday night. "We've got to try to improve our talent level a little bit. Anybody can tell from looking at us."
Dallas' starters were unimpressive, with Vinny Testaverde hitting nearly as many defensive backs as receivers and Eddie George having more carries than yards. Kansas City was slowed early by penalties, then had consecutive touchdown drives by throwing at the Cowboys' right cornerbacks.

tony romo is our back up??

i think bp is trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear- what else can he do at this pt?

in winning the job vs the chiefs, romo wildly flung the ball into the backfield, turning it over, and lost the snap on the crucial drive before the half- this from our potential field leader. the wild fling was erased by a penalty and he recovered the mis-snap. if the ball had bounced another way, we'd be having a dif conversasion now.

yes, he rebounded and got us into the endzone finally, only after several crucial errors. but why r romo and henson considered 'golden calfs'- untouchables? the one reason is plain. there is no viable option on the wire right now.

bp said he was gonna be looking at the wire real hard this wk. he knows what he has- and doesn't have. :twocents:
