Could Top 3 Teams Trade Down?

I heard something interesting today. Chris Mortenson said on Sportscenter today that he beleives that San Fransico, Miami, and Clevenland all are looking to trade down. That makes since. San Fransico doesn't want #1, but still are looking at Aaron Rogers and Alex Smith. Right now Aaron Rogders has the edge, but tomorrow is Utah's Pro Day, and they are waiting to see Alex.

Miami has only 5 picks in this years draft. There needs are so great, Saban wants more picks to address those needs, and the way to get those picks is to trade down.

Same thing with Cleveland. Romeo Crennell would love to select a defensive player with the 1st round pick, and they would like more picks as well. They are pressed in taking Alex Smith though, as Trent Dilfer is not starting QB quality, but they could take him lower and at the same time get more picks.

I don't think that I have ever seen a draft where so many top teams want to trade down. Obveisly there is no talent at the top, and if you have a pick from #7-13, you have the best vaule picks in the draft.

The Bears are happy where they are, wanting to get Brylon Edwards. I have seen people thinking Minnesota could be wanting to trade up to make sure they get either Williams or Edwards.

We have seen some crazy moves on draft day, I think this year we can expect the unexpected.

I could easily see Philly and Minnesota moving into #2 and #3. Philly has plenty of ammo to deal with and the vikes 2 1st rounders might be enough to get up there. They seem like the only teams that would take drastic measures to snag their WR. San Fran probably will get stuck with Rodgers oh well. I get the feeling Arizona will be up to something I am not for moving up but if we could switch with them for our 1 and 3 and grab merriman or dj it would certainly solidify the lb core.

Philly yes Minnesota definately if they want Mike Williams but thats what Philly wants. So only 1 of the 2 will move up. Philly will give up half their draft or 2 #1's which do u prefer. If minnesota moves up after Philly takes Williams then they will take Edwards... and that will leave Chicago out of luck

I dont think SF wants to trade down at all I think they like the Talent in this years draft. Currently they are not impressed with Smith at this point they said that 1 out of every 3 passes he threw at the first pro day fluttered.

I think that leaves Edwards, or Rodgers.

Miami is looking to trade out of #2 They wouldnt have called Ricky Weed, and told him the doors open if they were locked on to a RB with the 2nd pick, Which is what everyone is looking at.

Cleveland might look to trade out of their spot. It ill be on what Picks go 1 and 2 before Cleveland decides to pull the trigger on a move out of the #3 spot.

Bears again will depend on what picks are taken 1,2,& 3 But may want RB over WR I dont think Braylon lasts beyond this pick and may already be gone

A crazy scenario that has been running through my mind involves us and Miami...

we give them:

1 (13)
2 (47)
4 (114)

They give us:

1 (2)
3 (104)

We pick DJ and then go OL, DL, WR (in any order) in the third.

I know it's a crazy idea, and I haven't really followed through with assesing the relative values of the picks, but as the draft gets nearer, I am getting a little more frantic!!! :woot

All things considered, I am really getting as tired of this years DJ scenarios as I did of last year's ST talk, but it still didn't preclude me from adding to the overload!!!

that trade would hurt us badly. If they do trade down they will either do it with Tenneesee, Minnesota, or Philadelphia who was picks to spare. I think us droping down is the best way to go. Us losing picks this year doesnt sound good to me

Crazy is going into maybe my 108th hour of pondering about the draft. Seriously, I read mocks, Watch NFL total Access, ESPN, John Clayton, NFL.com workouts, since I work from 8PM to 5AM i can read all the articles then in the afternoon and early evenings, I can watch the TV shows
