Could HOU get a 1st for Tate?

I would be very surprised. We could probably use him to trade up in the first, but I dont know if he would get us a first on his own. But getting a 2nd or two is more likely IMO.

Personally I think he is worth a 1st. He's that good. I'll go as far as calling him just as good if not better than Foster. He's more explosive and can run through arm tackle better than Foster. He's also more sure footed. You don't see him slip on cuts like you see in Foster. He's also underrated in the passing game. He was on pace to a 1500+ yds season and 2nd in yds per carries while Foster was out earlier last year.

But his injuries and limited carries this season hurt his stock value severely. If we lose him and he starts full time for another team, expect Tate to have a breakout year.

Obviously HOU is not going to sign Tate to a Big contract. What is Tate's trade value? NYJ need RB help and Tate could be a ground&pound back.

Doesn't look like a strong draft for RB

Check out my "Trade with Miami" thread from a few days ago. My premise was based upon Tate finishing season and playoffs strong. Ain't happening. He got 2 attempts for 7 yards. Nothing to brag about.

At this point we are probably looking at a 4th round pick for Tate. Lack of production and missed games this year surely have lowered his value. It would be better to hold on to him IMO.

His talent warrants a high pick, but no team is going to trade that pick for a guy who can't stay healthy. We'll get a 3rd for him at best.

That said, we need to draft a RB this year so we can at least get something for Tate before he walks.

Have you seen his numbers this season???

Why in the hell would any team give up a first round pick after the season he has had?? We'd be lucky to get a late 2nd.

At least this thread is good for a laugh. A 4th would be the max Tate would bring. Just keep him in as insurance. The Texans will have 11 draft picks in the April. That's plenty.

Depends on the draft class and the free agent market. Supply and demand. All it takes is 1 team to love the guy...off the top of my head i'd wager a late 2nd round pick.

That is why I was hoping Tate would power out deep into the playoffs with great productivity ala 2011. In fact he was doing pretty well pre-hammy. 2 attempts do not look so good against Colts.

I'd jump for joy if we got a late 2nd for Tate but it ain't happening. I think we'd be lucky to get a late 3rd right now and more likely a mid 4th.

That's just about what I would evaluate Tate's market value at, and any thought of him being worth a first is not to be taken seriously and assigning a second-round value is semi-silly. Just remember, running backs are a dime a dozen.

I think a 2nd would be dubious because of his injury history. The idea RBs are a dime a dozen is silly. 5 of the top 10 RBs were first round and only two were 2nd day and they are considered flukes - oddly enough picked by...Kubiak and Shanahan.

No

But you probably use a 3rd rd pick and
Tate to move up to the top/middle of the 2nd rd

I've been questioning tates's value for over a year. I thought that if Cleveland had really offered a first for him last draft we were dumb not to take it because I felt like that was as good as it was ever going to get.

Now, we might as well hold onto him unless some team is desperate.

I think I take that deal especially if I could trade the first down and pick up another pick. High second from our first should net Patterson and another high second pick for Tate/our third would get a very good player. We'd still have our own 2nd and two thirds maybe another third or at least a fourth for trading out of first. hmm

Yep, and with the depth on offense in this draft, how would you feel about a draft like this?

Rd.2 Patterson
Rd.2 Bray
Rd.3 Winters
Rd.3 Akeem Spence or Brandon Williams

Not interested in 2 or 3 but have Patterons and Williams on my working mock.
