Cotton Bowl: Ole Miss vs Texas Tech

I'll be at work. Go TT, despite my wife's sudden 'I don't know if I can root for Ohio State because the Big 12 is doing well' after I cheered my butt off at the Nebraska watch party.

Give 'em Hell Vince, whoops, uh, Mike!!

is it just me or does Dexter McCluster remind anyone one else of Chris Johnson/DeSean Jackson? electric speed in space, quick cuts & change in direction.

Hardy has been playing hard Rylan Reed has been doing an excellent job keeping him out of the box, very solid base. also been impressed with Tech DE Brandon Williams, maybe a sleeper pick for a 4-3 team could be a steal in 3rd/4th....

Look at these crying babies on the TT offensive line throwing fits. Wow. Paint your face and look all intimidating - then go out there and cry like a 12-year old girl.

Embarrassing.... and I was rooting for Tech.

I really like Hardy. The only thing that I don't like is injury history. He seems to be a well balanced DE, good against the run and pass.

he looked heavy, maybe N. of 270 (too many holiday sweets?) would like to see Hardy drop 10, become a workout warrior before the combine. right now his speed looks in the 4.8-4.9 range (could not catch Harrell on boot) he's got to do better than that & show closing ability to rip down QB's.

I only got to see the first half, and as a Tech fan wasn't paying alot of attention to individuals when we were on offense. I did take a good look at Oher in the first half and now see why some people knock him for his run blocking.

In pass protection he looks fantastic. Doing a great job of keeping his body between the QB, and defender. On several plays a speed rusher got ahead of him, and he used his arms to reach out, and slow them down just enough for his feet to catch up. I liked what I saw alot.

Run blocking he was kind of spotty. I saw him completely whiff on some blocks, and look lost at times, not sure who to block. Other times he would look like he was pass protecting on a run play; not a draw. I don't know if that's just bad technique, or maybe he forgets what the play is supposed to be. Other times he flashed the kind of blocking you would expect from a top pick; blowing people up, opening running lanes, etc.

I can see him slipping to 15 in such a strong tackle class. I would be happy with the Texans picking him up there, over almost anybody except Orakpo, and Jenkins; maybe Raji.

The only D player I would take over Oher are Curry and Jenkins.

All I have to say is WOW. Havn't had a chance to get on the boards since leaving for Dallas. This was the most exciting game I've ever been to. I was so scared after Tech started up 14-0, I thought if we don't get our heads on straight this could get embarrassing. This game was FULL of highlights and I can't wait to rewatch it on DVR... over and over and over again.

Ole Miss defense stepped up. We were getting pressure all day long. We were so close to a lot of sacks, but Harrell got many away. He got rocked very hard on several occasions and I think that pressure really shook him. Our secondary stepped up huge for us, I did not expect them to play this well. Even on Crabtree, he was single covered the vast majority of the snaps. Marshay Green had his best game of his life, covered Crabtree a lot and did very well with punt returns. Peria Jerry looked so impressive. Question: Did Greg Hardy even play? I couldn't tell from where I was sitting (upper deck) and havn't rewatched the game yet. I could never see his number out there.

Michael Oher looked phenominal to me. Call me biased. I watched him the whole time on offense when I wasn't distracted by Dexter McCluster's awesome performance. Oher had a few let downs, he let Snead get hit really hard on one play. But I was watching him a lot of the time after the play was developed and downfield. This kid just makes me laugh... he makes watching a left tackle fun. He would turn Tech's defenders around and start blocking them towards the opposite side of the field. He got beat a few times, but also showed how physically dominant he can be. Pass protection was SUPERB except for a few times, he gets his feet moving well and once he's locked on the defender, it's over. Jevan Snead played really well and had a great Texas homecoming. Made some VERY good tight throws but overthrew the ball on several occasions that could have been big big big gains.

I'm so happy Ole Miss dominated this game. For a team and fans complaining about not going to the Big XII championship or not playing in a BCS bowl game, they finally got what was coming to them. The majority of Tech's fans were so ignorant and pathetic, it was embarrassing (no offense to most of you good fans, I just saw a large sample size:)). SEC defense was just too much for their offense. Luckily they had some other receivers step up a bit with crabtree's tweaked ankle (4 receptions, 30 yards and a 2 yard TD). i will say I was pretty impressed with Tech's DL, I don't know any of their players but they were really getting some pressure on Snead early in the game.

47 - 34!!

Biggest reason Ole Miss won though? Thank you Arkansas for being so dumb!!! Nutt got our guys fired up (that sounds really bad). He had a GREAT game plan, stuck to it, and does what he does with some unexpected plays. Biggest thing I dislike about him is when he runs those gadget plays and Wild Rebel inside the red zone or even inside the 10 yard line. Only time I complain about his playcalling.

Oher & Perry were very impressve. And regarding Hardy: he was #86 who was playing strongside DE and I found him disappointing, certainly compared to the other 2 guys. Hardy definitely wasn't the "sackmaster" we'd been led to believe, atleast not in that game.

Weeks before this game I warned everybody here that unless this game was called by a Big XII officiating crew, Tech was toast.

Their o-line is very overrated and apparently the only conference that doesn't call holding is the Big XII.

DE Brandon Williams played well. He was really playing his heart out (and you have to if you are lining up against Oher on every play).

The way Tech went out was embarrassing. I'm glad I don't support them. All the misconduct and trash talking at the end of the game was pathetic.

Despite being a UT fan, I must admit that the allegations about Big XII defense seem true. The only "real" defense in the Big XII all year has been Texas, and we will prove it again later tonight.

Saw some pictures of the game, havn't been able to fully rewatch it yet. Hardy was playing though. Couldn't tell from my seats. I really wonder if he wasn't playing much because of his foot injury or if Nutt held him out b/c of some attitude problems. Either would be very telling and could affect his draft status. Jerry made up for the 'absence' of Hardy. He was terrific, plus I thought the coaching staff did a good job of keeping LB blitzes coming from different places.

I think this helps explain alot-

Ole Miss DE has foot surgery… Star Missisippi junior DE Greg Hardy had surgery earlier this week to repair a broken bone in his right foot. Hardy, who is projected to be a top prospect at the 2010 draft, is expected to be ready in time for the start of the 2009 college season. Hardy missed five games this season and was limited in others after having surgery prior to the season in which a screw was inserted in a metatarsal bone. Despite the injury the 6-4, 265-pound Hardy still had 8.5 sacks last season.
