I'm happy as can be to declare myself a new Texans fan(so long as they're not playing my Panthers), in fact you made a lot of NCSU fans very happy today.
Seeing as how NO was going to take him #2, you were right to grab him while you could. I've been a huge Mario fan ever since his SR year in high school, and he has never dissappointed. From day 1 here at NCSU he's been everything you could ask for in a player and I'm certain you will feel the same way when he gets to Houston.
The kid is an absolute thoroughbred, born to play DE at the highest level. We knew that as soon as he came to NCSU(spring semester/early enrollment), he even told us from the beginning that he was only gonna be here for 3 years, then off to the NFL as the #1 DE taken. None of us doubted that lofty claim once we saw him on the field and here he is.
I think one key point that even the experts are missing about Mario is that he is much more ready for the NFL than Peppers was when he was drafted. People forget that Peppers was only 265-270 lbs out of college and it took him a couple of years to bulk to 290 lbs which he needs to dominate. Expect Mario to be ready to make a big impact in a hurry, all he needs is a little bit of coaching/technique and there is no reason that he can't be amongst the elite defensive players in the league.
Alright Texans I"ll have my Sunday Ticket ready to see what you guys can do this year, good luck from Raleigh.
