College Football 2014

Washington CB and rated #39 over all by draftscout.com Marcus Peters has been suspended for head butting an opponent.

Peters reportedly head-butted an Eastern Washington player in the third quarter and was benched the rest of the contest. The paper said he was seen tossing his equipment on the ground afterward and throwing a tantrum.

"I'm just not into stupid penalties," Petersen said after the game. "It's not even an issue whether the guy's going to play or not if they don't conduct themselves right. If you don't play like we want you play, you're not playing. It's not even a decision for me; it's easy."

The junior was a second-team All-Pac-12 selection in 2013 and considered to be just behind Oregon's Ifo Ekpre-Olomu among the conference's top NFL draft prospects at cornerback.

Ifo Ekpre-Olomu has been my favorite CB for a couple years, would take him over Desmond Trufant who went 22nd overall in 2013. better playmaking skills, fearless punt returner, shades of Darrelle Revis who was a steal back in fateful 08 draft that netted Texans Okoye instead of Revis or Patrick Willis. Hence all things being equal peg him around that 8-14 slot in 1st. :shades:

He might measure out less than 5'9" which could be huge in NFL despite his skills. I don't want any first round selection doing anything than their specialty. Let someone else return ball.

I'm not sure there is a college quarterback that has better touch and location on their passes than Shane Cardin of East Carolina.

Watching the South Carolina/Georgia game: I have to say, I hate the QB sneak. 4th and 1, the most crucial play in the game and you're going to put it in the hands of the referees since almost 100% of the time the play is going to stand if it's reviewed. Otherwise, that was a hell of an ending to the game.

One day I expect the football to have some sort of chip in it and the down marker will have some sort of sensor. Then we can see where the ball was relative to the first down "sensor" at the moment the whistle was blown, even if the human eye can not determine where the ball was. That won't be perfect because in a scrum like that you can't always even determine the specific moment when the knee hits the ground.

Also, after the near miss of the FG by Georgia that would have tied it (clearly a miss, but close), you may see technology that can tell where the ball is relative to the upright when if crosses the plane of the goal post.

Neither are perfect but some day it would not surprise me to see this stuff in all NFL games and in major college venues.

I'm just waiting on old technology to be incorporated. Simply synchronizing the cameras would permit the differing angles to be seen simultaneously and make the call in the booth easier.

As far as A&M's weekend went...

I am not looking forward to facing our next mobile passer. Dak Prescott and MSU are going to give us a run for our money. We better not sleep on Arky in Jerryworld either.
