Coaching Change..............

Maybe it's just me, but I haven't got a good feeling that we will be getting a new staff in here after this miserable season. I haven't really heard anything crediable said about the coaching staff losing there job. From my perspective is that when a staff is on the hot seat they begin to do things out of the ordinary in order to save there job. Be it trick plays, or I don't know............maybe blitz every now an again. I know I might get hammered to say this, but I'm not all that opposed to seeing DC stay another year to right the ship. On the other hand I want to see some change if he does stay. I want to see some improvement from the things that they have ignored for the past 4 yrs such as O-Line. If Chester is doing such great job at left tackle as the coaching staff is saying, just be prepared to be disappointed when we pass on the LT that so many of you are wanting. I think if we have a good O-line that could improve our whole team. I really don't think it is the LT position that anchors the line to me if you have 2 good guards that would be a world of a differance. Either way how the rest of the story is played out I'll be in my usual seat at the stadium playing GM and cheering them on!

In my opinion if the Texans have a losing season they will replace the head coach for sure..some here feel Mr. McNair will even replace Casserly. He really doesn't have much choice.

Helloo? McNair not firing Capers, at the very least, at the end of this season? Gee, can we all spell Tom Benson and Baton Rouge? If McNair doesn't do something, he is the one who will have to wear a bag over his head - or hire body guards.

We are just half way through this season. Sit back and enjoy some football. No way McNair leaves the team with a lame duck coach in the last year of his contract to run the team. Capers either gets an extension or he gets fired. No way he gets an extension based on how this team has been a horror show across the board. Heck we won last week but we were awful. We couldn't even pass for 140 yards against the Browns. We are the only team who has a starting QB start all his games that hasn't thrown for 1000 yards. We broke a record that stood since 1933 for not having a lead in any game. We give up nearly 400 yards a game defensively.

We are awful, changes are coming.

Regardless of what this MB has been saying, when I listen to McNair speak, I don't see any body language whatsoever that indicates any type of "cleaning house" attitude, no matter how they finish. That's just the way I'm reading it.

Again, a good observation. Capers' comments regarding Pitts indicate that he's pleased with Pitts' play at LT, and even remarked that Pitt's play at guard improved his technique to the point that it has made him a better LT that he was before. Add to the fact that Pitts has been extremely durable, and leads me to believe that if they are planning changes on the OL, it will something other than LT.

Besides, if we end up with the first pick of the draft, it will not be a O lineman taken anyway. And trading it down is nothing more than a MB wishful think.

You know what drives an owner to change coaches. The bottom line. Nobody knows what McNairs bottom line is, but I can assure you he is approaching it quickly. When half the people show up for a game and the parking and concessions are down this year he might be able to take it a little, because tickets and advertising are already paid. What happens when thousands of seats go unpurchased for all 8 home games. Don't forget he would also lose revenue next year, because the advertisers will not pay the same price. Parking revenue would be down not to mention merchandise and concessions. All this money adds up quickly. Right now he is not feeling it, but I bet if Capers is still around next year and we get the same reults McNair will definitely have bad body language.

If McNair gives Capers an extension then he will lose alot of fans. He can't allow his friendship with Capers to influence his decision. Capers is not and never has been a good head coach. He maxed out as defensive cordinator. Being hc is too much for Capers to deal with and he fails miserably at it. It's almost like as an dc you get the full strength version but as hc you get the watered down version. Maybe he just can't handle the extra tasks, problems, and pressures that come with head coaching. He sure can't evaluate talent.

A whole lot of us last season were asking why Capers ever moved Pitts in the first place. It isn't so much that he is the long term answer but rather that he is the best we have to put at LT. Not drafting a franchise LT in the 1st round next year will be a huge mistake IMHO but not as huge as keeping Capers would be.

i think this is a good thread, because all of us seem to be taking it for granted that capers is gone at the end of the season if we dont somehow have a miraculous revolution and hit .500.....but CC, capers, and mcnair have said from day ONE that this was a FIVE year plan, and they would stick to it. Things are bad right now, but it is year 4, and i could conceivably see capers and casserly and company being allowed to retain control through next season as well. not saying i agree with it, but i could see it happening

It is year 5 if you count the year prior to the first season when Capers was on board already putting things in place to sink this ship. I think that was year 1 of the 5 year plan.



PS-I don't take Capers being fired for granted when McNair has a race horse named after Caper's wife, Karen's Caper.

This has been a big let down for the team to have gone back like it has. This is like a bad dream. I keep thinking I'll wake up and this is only the last preseason game.
