4.44 speed, but what’s more impressive is the 1.50 10 yard split. That is just freaky. Looking at the LBs this past combine the fastest 10 yard split was 1.54… those fractions of a second matter when it comes to closing through the hole on a play.

And he has an 11’ broad jump. Best among LBs this year was 10’8”.

I think the game started to click for Harris late in the season when he got over his early season shoulder injury. He played much more instinctively which allowed him to show off that freaky athleticism. He has the physical gifts to be an all pro LB. And he flashed them at times last season. Now is the season he becomes DeMeco’s next Fred Warner!

I think the addition of Al-Shaair will be the most important factor for Harris' development at this point. Demeco is obviously a great developer of LBs but being a head coach means his time is often taking him elsewhere. Al-Shaair is a top pro and a very cerebral player, I think what Harris has lacked is the game knowledge that he can rely on and trigger on without actually overly thinking too much - I think Azeez can really help Christian in this regard.

I agree. Very similar relationship to the one Cushing had with DeMeco. You had the young athletic LB paired with the steady intelligent vet. Cushing played his best football with DeMeco beside him.

Demeco was drafted in 2006. Cushing was drafted in 2009. He was a 3 year vet when Cushing came into the league.

I hope Azeez helps Harris a lot, but he's going on year 3. He should have all that stuff down. The coaches putting him in position to use those instincts should be his biggest aid this year.

Harris is only going into year 2 in DeMeco's system, so the more guidance the better, but he was definitely on the come up throughout last season.

I think with concensus in the defense, we're going to see more coverage disguises, blitz looks, and games on the D-Line. I saw somewhere that Ryan's had to simplify the defense to keep everyone on the same page in 2023.

It's year two for him in this system. Which is quite a bit different than other systems especially concerning run fits and some coverage fits too. We saw him start to get it near midway through the season, but there's still always a lot to learn. Azeez has experience at each of the positions and it would be helpful to have someone showing and teaching Christian the Mike role ropes as well as that would be new for him as well.

People have to understand…this kid didn’t even start playing LB until he hit Bama in 2019. So he’s truthfully only scratching the surface on learning the position. Before that, he was mostly a skill position player on offense in high school. So I think that explains a lot of his growing pains and injury issues both at bama and his rookie year here. Had to get his body acclimated. But the freakish athleticism was already there, he just needed the knowledge and coaching to get him on point.

He was 1 of my favorite players we drafted in 2022 b/c of all of the above & what I thought he could be….which was Luke Kuechly level good & it Sounds like he’s becoming who I thought he could be…who I thought Xavier Adibi could’ve been for us the year we drafted him.

Adding Al-Shaair next to him…I think we’re gonna have the best young LB core not only in the division, but the entire league. Fast, sideline to sideline guys who both pack a punch. Smaller versions of Urlacher and Briggs

I still remember DeMeco reading the opposing offense, and pointing out the exact gap the running play was going to be run through pre-snap.
Aren't one offensive player [QB] and one defensive player [MLB Al-Shaair] miked this season? Ryans and Al-Shaair will be interesting to watch.

I really want to love this guy BUT I see no difference following him or Clowney. There is just better things to do.

Last night's game vs the Steelers showed me how much this team could use Christian Harris back. The first play by the Steelers offense turned a play (that should have been a TFL) into a 14-yard first down because the LB (Neville Hewitt) missed a tackle...badly. I haven't seen any update on his status since June 20 where it was reported he had a 'soft tissue injury.'

I thought the same thing during that play. Very excited about Harris/Al-Shaiir duo at LB. But concerned about Harris’ durability.
