Chop block is when a player is engaged by another player. Cut block (still legal) is a low block when not engaged.
I thought all chop blocks were already illegal.
I was wondering about that too, I wonder if teams go back to finding the biggest lineman for more of a power schemethis will hurt a lot of zone running teams
Like the Dallas Cowboys have right now? I like their signing of Alfred Morris behind that big and stout offensive line. Even though his stats have been going south ever since his monster rookie season.I was wondering about that too, I wonder if teams go back to finding the biggest lineman for more of a power scheme
Yep. No team did it better than we did when Gary Kubiak was here coaching. Wade Smith and Chris Myers were pro bowlers at left guard and center for us. Think about that for a second! As I remember, they were legal between the tackles.

I have doubts about zone blocking being dependent upon the execution of the cut-blocking technique ? Not being an expert on offensive line play myself, maybe somebody who is or thinks he is could offer some analysis ?this will hurt a lot of zone running teams

Dom Capers instituted ZBS without cut blocks. It sucked. Kubiak then came in and brought Gibbs and we had the league leading rusher. The whole point is to have that cutback option. Look at Foster highlights and see how often he is against the grain.
