Charley C. and the draft, Say It Aint So!!!

I want to throw this out to you guys and hear what you think. First off I can give you my honest opinion as to why I am 100% confident we the Texans will not pick Vince or Reggie in this upcomming draft. First off Charely is probably one of the most arrogant people I have ever seen. History shows that he complements himself in finding hidden gewls during the draft (Domanick Davis, Jerome Mathis). History also shows that as a GM in Houston his very first draft pick was David Carr. There is no way he will bring in Bush to start over one of his Jewels of the Draft, and there is no way he will bring in Vince and watch his FRANCHISE PICK get flushed down the toilet. He will not accept the forgone conclusion that his first draft pick as a Texan was a flop. I was listening to Charley Dukes on the way home this evening and he spoke with Charley C, and I listened to Charley C. say with his own mouth that he has the final say as to which draft pick is to be taken. I sat in my truck and I thought W.T.F. This years draft is going to be like last years draft, I am going to see all this talent and then Charley C is going to blow our minds with some off the wall pick. He will wait until the fourth round to pick a O-lineman, and we will all be hanging our heads down after round 2 in complete disbelief. i know this is a dooms-day thread but man after Charley said that thisevening I felt like fomiting. What a shame what a shame........

I think if you analysed most GM's draft picks they hit about as much as they miss. It is not an exact science.

Of course Casserley gets the final say he is the GM, it is his butt on the line, but he is known as a guy that will go get the guys who the coach want and need to succeed.

You eat your 'chicken little' Wheaties this morning?

Bob McNair will have the final say on who gets drafted . . . after discussing it with Casserly, Kubiak, Shannon, and the rest. So calm the hell down.

If Charley Cassely is indeed running this draft then we are in big trouble. This guy is the worse GM in the NFL, and yes he's even worse then Detriot's GM. Just look at his pervious drafts.
:stirpot:

I think you need to remember that him drafting David Carr or any of his other previous drafts have nothing to do with this because chances are he is gone the next day to replace Shell on the NFL board.

However this dude scares me because he is so likely to wanna screw us since he isn't going to be here anyways.

If we are really going to give a large share of draft power to a guy who is likely gone soon thereafter, the franchise deserves whatever comes our way...

I know this is basically a Bash Cass thread, but let me just point out that the final year Cass was with the Redskins he had a great draft. He had the 5th overall pick, traded down to the 12th for additional picks, and then back up to the 7th overall to draft Champ Bailey...I believe they came out on top there. He has talent at moving down and still getting the man he is targeting. Just look at last years draft, we moved down from 13th to get our #2 3rd rounder this year, and we got the man the team wanted/needed, although it might not have been the fan's want.

He has made mistakes, don;t get me wrong, but like another poster stated, most GM's miss about the same amount that they hit. Our main busts have been Hollings, Joppru, and Charles Hill (2 2nds and 1 3rd), one of which has been plagued by injury and we have yet to see what he can/could do.

Basically, I don't forsee Cass throwing his legacy down the crapper just to screw over the Texans. Come on! He's wanting to show what he can do. That being said, there may be a little tension as he starts fidgeting around with trades, but I will be in front of my TV, watching, hoping, and ....PRAYING! ; )
