At first i was an"All we need is Bush" person. But after reading some post and looking into the Scouting Reports,I believe the trade down is our best weapon.I personally would not go farther tha the Jets at #4,here i believe we could build a team that is formidable. If we could get their 1st and 2nd rd this year and picks next year we could be in a good position. After looking on the www.nfldraftcountdown.com site i see this as a decent draft:
#4 Mario Williams DE
#33 N.Mangold C
#36 Joseph CB
#65 Adejanu DE
#66 Settestrom OG
#97 C.Humes RB
#129 S.Green WR
#161 Harper S
#193 Bieneman TE

i like mangold at 33 but i would like to see furguson or mcneil at #4, picking up bad ray in FA would be nice too

I started switching toward the trade down scenario when I started thinking about the flexibilty the picks would offer along with the extra talent that could be brought in at positions where they don't have NFL caliber players. With a trade down to the Jets or Packers the Texans would have 5 of the first 66 picks and still get one of the big 5. (Bush, Young, Leinart, Williams, Ferguson). They'd be able to address the D-Line, the O-Line, and the Defensive backfield.

I think Bush and Young are the best players in the draft. I think Bush would be an immediate upgrade over Domanick. Young, in 3 years, will be an upgrade over Carr. He's not going to be right away, though. If they want a QB, Young will go over Leinart, so he's not an option. That leaves improving the O-line with D'Brick or the D-Line with Super Mario. The upgrade from Pitts/Wade to Pitts/Ferguson or Babin/Peek to Babin/Williams is tremendous. I think the depth is better at OT with guys like Winston and Scott possibly available at the #33 so I go with Mario Williams.

I am for trading if we get value. But, I doubt we will.

The funny thing is that everyone talks about Bush not being an everydown back - and downgrades him. I think he can step up and do it.

But, even if he doesn't and we have to use him like USC, he is a scary threat. Figure each team averages about 60 plays a game. So, figuring pulling him in short yardage and after long gains, he gets about 45 plays a game. I break that down:
16 rushes
15 play action/screens - looking at about 5 or more dumpoffs per game
14 times in motion to the slot - and dare a LB to try to cover him

I think he creates all kinds of mismatches. 80 rushing, 8 catches and 100 yards a game receiving.

Lineup: I would primarily go with 2 sets: a pro style with DD and Bush together or an I style with Bush behind a FB: with a TE, a WR and a 2nd WR (sometimes a 2nd TE if we draft one).

If we could pull a trade off with the Jets I would love to do it, because most likely they will have the #1 ovrl pick next year at the very least they'll probably be in the top 5

im with Xman. if we can get a decent offer from a team, i say that trading down will help us out so much more because we have more than one desprate need. if we could grab three or four soild players, that would help way more than putting the load on Reggie's back (cause we wont grab young) and telling him to go get us a playoff spot. well-rounded teams win. look at the top 3 this year Pitt, Denver, Seattle all these had game-changing players on both sides of the ball. if we could make teams have to worry about three key players on both sides of the ball, i think Kubiak could take it from there.

if we could get the right trade down-my first choice would be D'brick,TE,and mangold @4,33,36 but id have no problem with mario, winston and mangold

you never know..remember before the season alot of teams had them as a SB team-they're in cap jail but still have decent players-alot depends on chad's arm

McNeill at #4? He ought to be available at #33 or 36 if we really want him. I still much prefer Mario at #4 and the best OT available at #33 (hopefully Eric Winston) vs. Ferguson at #4 and a DE later. I can also guarantee the Texans will look for a TE before the 7th round and they should, I hope it's not until the 3rd round though, unless one of the top 3 falls to #36 and we get that pick from a trade down, then I'd be ok with us getting one of those guys there.

Honestly Whiskey I like your thought. The First pick is perfect the second is time to get Winston/Scott/McNeil preferably Winston, the next grab Mangold and he will play G hopefully unless we get Bentley then he plays C. Joseph/Minter/Marshall whichever falls with the first pick in the third unless Maurice Stovall falls then we get him and then Corner with the next pick and then grab your TE there also. Start of the 4th I take Rocky McIntosh if he is still there if not get the TE if we grabbed Stovall, after that grab an athletic LB, and depth players and we should be fine.

I've always been in the Trade down or Draft Young club. I won't really change that, until I see what we do in FA.

I don't think the Jet's are going to trade up. If anything, they'll try to trade down, and do the same thing we want to do. So we'd have to trade down, maybe with Denver, then back up with the Jets..... That stuff get's to complicated for me to keep track of, so I'll stop there.

Greenbay may be willing to deal... they may be looking for a QB, I don't see how anyone with the #1 overall would pass on Vince, Especially if they are looking for a QB. Nothing against Lienart, who would go #2 to the Saints. Tennesee, I don't see them taking a RB, I could be wrong. They will more than likely trade down, and go for Cutler. Reggie may very well go in the #3 spot, unless someone tries to jump the Jets to get D'brick. in which case, the Jets take Bush @#4.

If we keep the pick, I can see us Drafting Reggie, although I don't agree with it.

Green Bay just drafted Aaron Rodgers in the 1st last year, they won't be looking for a QB. If anything they'd be trading up to grab Reggie Bush, but I'm not sure I see them giving up much to get him.

D'oh............ forgot about Rodgers.....

So that takes Greenbay off the list..

With there pick, you think they'll take a running back, or Mario??

GB will take Mario if he is there. They will not take a LB at that spot unless Greenway blows everyone away at workouts. AJ may be a hell of a player but DE most always takes precedent over a LB. Also, Kampman is likely gonna be let go so they will be looking for a DE. Hopefully they or the Jets will trade up with us for whoever and we grab Mario Willams and get a 2nd and next years 1st out of the deal.

Winston and McNeil won't be there, Scott might. But I'm thinking that the upgrade in tallent over Pitts would be so neglegable, that I would rather go with one of the beast gaurds on the board. I.E. we can't get the best LT but we could get a mauling dancing bear to help Pitts out. Not perfect but paves the road for a turaround. I don't like any of the wide recivers this year, In my book they all have....issues. , I think ,If I'm reading the scouts correctly, we could wait untill the second day to land a very nice prospect at TE. We either take the LT prospect at the top or live with the consequences. I.E. Carr is an ineffective QB..we draft in the top five again next year.

At first, I really thought we should trade down. Now, I'm sick of defending Carr and sick of even hearing that "Bush" word, so I say we take Matt Leinhart AND keep Carr just to piss everybody off. :thankyou:
