He just compared their decision to what Indy did in letting Edge go and keeping Freeney since he needed a new contract. They kept the D player. He said it is projections but it shows you what a D end can do.

It's a bit premature to compare Freeney to M.Williams. While one is the NFL's premier pass rusher the other one has not even played a down of NFL football. I understand Charley is trying to make a case, but I'm sure the Colts would've loved to have kept Edge if they could afford it.

honestly i think thats who we'd take, cause as of now i think our Offense could compete now all we need is a D who can stop a team from scoring as much as we can. Moving to the 3-4 means we should get more pressure on the qb, which is good for d-rob and our secondary, so we need to make sure we have a good D line so a qb dont have all day to pick our secondary apart. YES i think we'll be drafting D.

Casserly's point as well. This thing has gone back and forth now it appears to be advantage Bush. He simply wants too much at this point and I think that is the issue. McNair wants to keep the price down I still say for the other owners. They will never say that, but I still think that is a gentlemen's agreement behind the scenes.
 
If he wants to keep the price down then he needs to trade down and get either D'Brick, Vernon Davis or huff, or d angelo Williams.

I think you mean moving to the 4-3 defense from the 3-4 defense of last season with true pass rushing run stopping defense will make your DBs look like probowls... Look at our DBs in Chicago not elite, but they have been to the probowl.

No I think when they draft williams you will sign him on time for camps and it will be for reasonable #1 draft pick value money. Not the outrageous Bush money he "thinks" he deserves with all the hype surrounding him by the media. Although maybe he can buy a house for his family now.

Just curious to see if anyone knows this...if the Texans let the time run out and wait until a couple of the other teams have picked in the 1st round, do they still have to pay #1 money for the player they pick even though he will not be the first player picked?:confused:

No because whe you let the time run out you basically forfiet your draft position and move down one. That would be stupid to do though. If they didn't want to pay for the 1st pick they would just trade out.

the reason for asking this question is because it doesn't seem like anyone is willing to trade up with the Texans.

McNair said North Carolina State DE Mario Williams is still in the picture and could end up being the top pick if he agrees to a deal before the draft. Meanwhile, Southern Cal RB Reggie Bush's agent, Joel Segal, has exchanged numerous proposals with the Texans chief negotiator, vice president of administration Dan Ferens.

This is from KFFL I just read it. It looks like it is between who agrees to a deal first. I think Williams is more probable to make a deal than outrageous Bush.

The Texans don't want to trade the pick, they want Bush so they make it appear that thre are not any teams trying to trade up, besides most trade situations will happen tomorrow during the Draft.

Are you posting this on every thread? It doesn't matter who goes 1st in the Draft the mney will be very similar for anyone. The Texans are taking Bush and his contract will look similar to what Alex Smith got last year.
 
First of all, I like that the FO finally grew a pair, and started playing hardball. We're going to keep the price down on our #1, because we're not a bunch of girly men who gush when they meet hyped up Heisman winners, or ProBowl future hall of famers, like Dan Snyder......... And it's got nothing to do with the other owners.... it's because that's the way we do it 'round herr........

At least that's what I'm hoping.

IMHO LT is the best thing since sliced bread...... if they get Reggie, then they have Brees, and Bush....... who might be the next slice of bread.

And for the record, I watched a lot of LT at TT, & I never imagined he'd be as good as he is.

While I don't want to draft Reggie Bush(dang "Bush Bowl") I don't want to be punk'd either.

the money SHOULD be, the negotiations are not all the same. Bush is going to be looking for UNREALISTIC money for a Part-Time RB. he is talented, but so is Williams. and moreso Williams has an edge. He is talented in his position to be drafted in. he knows his role, teams know how they are going to use him and pay him well for doing it better. That is a confident pick and money well spent.

Not pay #1 money to a guy to say "we could use him here, there, and the other position" not know where he will succeed most. If he is drafted #1 he has to be the RB not WR, KR, PR, DB, K, etc. RB every down RB and he has not proven that at all.

You are assuming that he is asking for crazy money. Bottom line you take Bush because he is BPA and will make the Offense crazy good. I think we have te pieces that we need on the D-line to get the job done and done well. This is a whole new scheme on the Defense that really plays to our personell's strenght IMO.

If by LT you mean Tomlinson, are we sure you watched him that much?

Because the scarlet and black of Tech (abv. TT) is vastly different then teh white and purple of TCU, the school LT played for in Fort Worth.
