The more i see this guy the more im reminded of kerry collins. People compare him to favre but the only comparison might be the arm. Like collins, hes got the potential to be a good quaterback and maybe be the qb for a superbowl team but i dont think he will ever be a superstar quaterback. (manning mcnaab culpepper) i guess it was just the luck we were dealt when he was the best quaterback available with our 1st pick. some get aikman some get couch and some get carr. My point is, i feel we should try to get a stud running back ala benson and try to fill the d holes and oline holes through free agency and next years draft. Were not getting reggie bush next year and we could probably get benson this year and find a comparable if not better dlineman in next years deeper draft. What do you guys think? :hmmm:
 
Nah, Carr will be fine.

The O-Line needs to allow us to count to one-one-thousand, two-one thousand, three-one thousand before two guys come crashing into Carr. Give him some time, like he should have against the Bears, and I think Carr will start looking pretty good.

He's following an Aikman-like time line isn't he?

I agree 100%...the man doesnt have time to get a good throw off (not many anyway) He hasnt looked confident AT ALL the last couple of games...almost a scared look, not knowing if he is going to get killed.We really need to get the O-Line fixed,and a serious a $ $ kicker on the defensive side of the ball.Our defense did a graet job yesterday,but our offense lost us that game.
 
I think that Carr has the physical tools to become a star QB, just not the coaching and support as of yet. His fundamentals are lousy right now, which is a sign that he is not being coached well. If he can get some confidence in his O-line then he would probably stand in the pocket longer and make more plays. I do think that he has to learn to take some shots to make plays, not just getting into the fetal position as soon as he see someone coming for him.
 
carr isn't a recovering alcoholic and has more physical ability...collin's career has already been decided carr hasn't...you never know maybe with a real franchise LT blocking for him he'll turn into the next aikman

You know (as a similarity) when you pet a dog that has been abused when they were younger, they flinch? This almost seems like what is happening with David. You get sacked so often...you get used to it, but you'll also worry about it.

On a side note: this strange post actually is on my 666th post.

Without protection Carr will always look like Kerry Collins. When we finally see Carr given a comfortable level of protection on a regular basis then we'll be able to tell what he's really capable of.

Assuming of course that he's still alive by the time that happens.
 
If most people don't remember, Aikman didn't really have the greatest start with Dallas. I think they lost all their games that year. If not they won a couple. Too young to remember that one. Could use some insite from the wiser.
 
Carr is a good QB, and will be a great QB when he gets a solid o-line in front of him. We've seen what he can do when he gets time to throw (Vikings game, Raiders game). The problem is that he's not getting the time to throw. Also the coaching philosiphy and play calling are holding him back IMO. Like a guy on 610 am said, '' the coaches are turning a thoroughbred stallion into a galloping pony.''

I agree. Carr CAN be a stud QB, but only with a conservative play calls on an explosive offense and major O-Line consistency.

What a joke, Give Carr an O-line and an LT and he'd be better than Brees. Its pretty hard to throw as your getting hit while taking the snap.

The Cowboys went 1-15 that year; the only victory coming in Washington with Steve Walsh QB's the team to the victory. Troy was hurt and had a dismal season.

Actually the Big conferences have terribel over the last few year at producing QBs with except of Peyton highly regarding QBs out of big conference have been poor. Some of the better QBs or with the team that are good this year.

McNabb (syracuse)
Culpepper(Central Florida)
Favre (southern Miss)
rothelisburber(sp) (Miami OH)
pennington (marshall)

In fact the best QB not named Manning from a big school Tom Brady (michigan) was not well regarded when drafted. In fact a better argument that can be made is NOT draft a highly regarded QB from the bigger conference.

In 1989, Aikman started 9 games and was 0-9 as a starter. Steve Walsh started 7 games that year and was 1-6 as a starter (his one win was against Washington...I believe it was on the road).

In 1990, his second year, they went 7-9. I think they lost their last two games behind the "command" of Babe Laughenberg (don't know how to spell his actual name).

The next year the Cowboys made it to the playoffs as an 11-5 team. They lost to the Lions in Detroit (Barry Sanders and Erik Kramer on that team). Steve Beuerlein had started some of those games during that season.

I would say that after his first season, Aikman did improve faster than Carr has. Of course the Cowboy's ascention had a lot to do with the infamous trade by Mike Lynn of the Vikings to get Hershel Walker from the Cowboys. Jimmy Johnson took him for a ride. He got so many players and picks from that trade that it was almost criminal. The Super Bowl teams were stocked full of talent on both sides of the ball.

Aikman took the Cowboys to the Super Bowl his 4th, 5th, and 7th seasons in the league. Carr doesn't have the wealth of riches that Aikman did. I do expect Carr to take the Texans to the playoffs either next year (his 4th) or the year after.

Note: I truly hate the Cowboys but how does the saying go? "Know thy enemy." 1989 was the best Cowboys season ever. The announcers loved to say, "This Cowboy's team is the best [insert some 1 win and double-digit loss record like 1-12] team I have ever seen." It was comical.

holding on to the ball to long ???? Ok does it EVER look like he has time to just hold on to the ball. Against the colts i saw on a few sacks where he hadnt even made 1 step of his 3 step drop before he was hit :hmmm:
 
True. Freeney was beating his man right off the snap. The QB has no chance when the D line is getting off so fast.
