Carr always audibles to a run! Predictable!

Why is it that everytime David Carr audibles, it is to a run (that is stuffed at the line of scrimmage of course).

It's so predictable everytime he changes the play at the line of scrimmage. And He's done this all year long.

I've been a big Carr fan, but before everyone jumps on palmer, let's look at Carr's decisions.

haha man the coach gives carr the regular play and than an alternate one to call if he dont like what he sees,,,its still a play picked by the coaches, not carr !!!

Yeah, what is with this FIRE PALMER stuff, when it is David who you shoud be complaining about? Why are are you Palmer critics not even focusing on the one who is REALLY calling the plays.

Because he's a player, and not a coach? Oh, I get it now.

do yall not read what people write on here ? ^^^^^^^^^^^^

He's given a running play, and a pass play. It's Carr who decides which one to run at the line. If you're going to question the play-calling, then at least be fair about it and include Carr if you want to point fingers.

well maybe we should get rid of David Carr?..He isn't showing any improvement anyway. we should trade him to detriot for joey harrington. :coolb:

no actually the only give carr ONE option,,,because they dont trust him to make the proper reads on the defense !!! Dang i saw eli manning calling passing audibles,,,its pathetic !

NO wait! i know what it is!

Its a bunch of ignorant couch QBs who think they know what is going on in the locker room!

oh btw.. it falls on both their heads.. Carr for calling an audible he should know wouldnt work.. and Palmer for not giving Carr a better selection.

and 90% of the time, he audibles to a run to the right side...

....and when he doesn't, it's a run to the left side. Every time he audibles, he announces to the whole world that's it's gonna be a run. That's horrible. Then, throw in the fact that everyone knows DD can't run sweeps succussfully, and they've got 8 or 9 guys waiting on him to run into the wall at the line of scrimmage. Hey, if I was an apposing coach, I would even run blitz the freaking CBs on every David Carr audible.

I agree and am concerned with the primarily run audibles, but I also noticed that at times the linemen are missing their blocks. I tihnk the real people that know what's going on are those watching the game film and preparing to play the upcoming game. Our running game hasn't been very good at all this year, and that won't change with audibles- it's going to be and is worse. Carr needs to audible to passing plays and try to work with what's been successful. Unless that's not how the offense works- I don't know

We do run off of an audible VERY frequently. Knowing that opponets are picking up on it, a good change might be an audible that is actually a play action pass. IMO, the other team would bite on it big time.

While teh audibles to running plays is predictable, I think the executiuon is more to blame then the call. Several of the audibles, especially in teh 3rd quater, looked like they should have worked, but either Davis just isn't that good or the O-line were unable to finish their blocks.

Today's article on the Texans said that DC doesn't have many options to choose from when he audibles. Whatever Palmer gives him, he has to use those choices.

Capers said that Carr audibles about 25% of all the plays. I'd be willing to bet many of you guys don't even know of the positive plays that came from audibles.

Even Steve Mckinney referred to the run audibles this morning. He said David should have known better than to audible to a run on 2nd and 19. Mckinney said of course they are going to give you a look that would be enticing to run against. It's 2nd and 19 for christ sakes. Carr is playing right into the defense's hands. I think some of the fans rath should be directed at Carr. He needs to get his sheyet together and learn how to be a coach on the field.

I saw Carr trying to "lead" the linemen when he was miked up. Weak. Carr has a prototype build and a great arm....but I would not call him too savvy or say he had great game instincts.

Vinny would you still say Carr has improved over the years and would you say things such as savvy or game instincts will come with experience.

i donno, but I can only hope so. Carr has poor instincts, is not a dominant leader and I don't know how much of that is coachable. He has the physical tools to be a solid QB, but getting to that other level is a question mark to me.

I'm confused. If the original play is a pass & he thinks a pass won't work, what else can he audible to? End arounds are basically a run and didn't do too well Sunday. :hmmm:

He doesn't decide at the line which play to call. He gets the play and calls it in the huddle. If he sees something that thinks the play call won't work he will audible. They will have one or two plays to audible into and Carr does usually audible into a run. With the line problems I'd audible everytime to a run. He must be having 2002 flashbacks.

I don't believe this to be true.

I believe that Carr routinely audibles to "Now" routes as well. If Carr is at the line and notices that one of the WRs (usually Johnson) has soft coverage, he overrides the playcall (whether it is a pass call, or a run call) and takes the now route (the hitch passes at the line of scrimmage).

Against the Packers, Al Harris was usually in a press coverage and we didn't see "Now" routes, but in many games we see a lot of them, sometimes audibled to twice in a row.

you gotta be unpredictable in today's NFL. The Chargers run new plays every week. Last week we only ran 3 plays out of the same set. Results are we are one of the highest scoring teams in the nfl. In 2002 the faiders made new plays every week. Result was they were the highest scoring team in the league. They didn't have superior players in an aging rice and brown just an accurate QB that knew football. The Chargers can say the same this year. Running your base offense week in and week out is not going to be enough to win consistently in toay's nfl
