Upon listening and reading to the pundits as well as taking in the banter here on the boards, I think it is clear that our true need is an offensive line unit to finally congeal and a defensive line unit to stay healthy. Everywhere else you look there is talent on this team, but the synergy and health of each line must be there next year to allow the coaches to loosen up the reins on these assets.
With that said there are question marks all over the place on who we should draft whether it be by need or BPA. As a fomer collegiate basketball coach we always wanted to draft players we thought of as winners or gym rats. Many times nice guys need not apply depending upon the composition of the team. It is in this line of thinking that I belive we need to look at guys that are called upon to do whatever it takes given the athletic abiltity that they possess such as the PacMan Jones, Matt Jones, Thomas Davis, Odell Thurman, etc of the world. These guys are athletes, played multiple sports and could be plug and play in different positions.
If there is no sure fire need or someone who can come in right away and be a stud, ala AJ and DRob, at WR, RB or LB this year then I think we need to look at guys who give us value right away on and off the field. But then again I would like to see Benson, the guy always gets you more yards after the tackle. BTW I have been a huge proponent for D Davis the last couple of years, although I belive he has been a detriment to Carr's development as David always looks for the dump off.
