Cam Robinson-OT from Alabama arrested

Wolf6151

All Pro
This board is a little slow this time of year and I'm not sure if everyone else saw this story. Top ranked OT prospect from Alabama Cam Robinson was arrested a couple days ago for marijuana possession, carrying a weapon in the presence of narcotics, and possession of a stolen firearm. What makes a guy who would most likely be a high 1st round draft pick and have millions of dollars a year from now throw it all away on some weed, guns, and stolen guns? Some folks are just stuck on stupid.

I agree Wolf but stupid can be cured and pot is not usually something Texans shy from.; more concerned about stolen gun. I am hopeful that LT will be deep in 2017 as I would like to use second round for that position. I would be interested in what you see as needs and in order if possible. I am working on that now.

I actually think we'll have more NEEDS in the 2017 draft than in 2016. I think guys like Cushing and possibly Joseph and Brown will become salary cap casualties, and that's not even accounting for 2016 season injuries. I've said it before and will say it again, I think the Texans will regret not addressing the OT position in the 2016 draft. Positional needs list: OT, CB, ILB, TE, NT, DE, and possibly OLB depending on Clowney's performance in 2016. Prioritizing those needs in 2017 is almost impossible since it depends on the talent level available in the draft and the depth at those positions, but it will probably be very close to the above list.

They've had better prospects than this guy get in some kind of mess within days of the Draft, the week of the Draft in recent years. Yea it's hard to understand such a total lack of self-control ?

I'm thinking if he has no record an attorney can plead it down. I'm not sure if ignorance of gun being stolen impacts charges. Police may be able to develop a history on weapon.

Because of this incident I know the Texans would never take him, but hopefully he makes it back so that he adds depth to the position and we can draft another OT.

UPDATE: MONROE, La. (AP) - The district attorney's office has decided not to prosecute Alabama offensive lineman Cam Robinson and reserve defensive back Laurence "Hootie" Jones on drug and weapons charges.

Prosecutor Neal Johnson cited insufficient evidence in court documents filed on Monday. Calls to the district attorney's office by The Associated Press were not immediately returned.

Robinson and Jones were arrested in the early morning of May 17 for the misdemeanor charge of carrying a weapon in the presence of narcotics. Robinson also was charged with felony possession of stolen firearms.

Robinson is an All-Southeastern Conference left tackle for the defending national champions. He's projected as a high NFL draft pick going into his junior season.

Jones is also a junior but has played sparingly.
