Cadillac Williams at #13

If this was already posted I do apologize:
NFL Draft Countdown Mock Draft

13. Houston Texans: Cadillac Williams, RB, Auburn
Every year it seems as though a player drops further than he was originally expected to and I am becoming more and more convinced that a running back could very well fall into the Texans laps here. If this scenario does play out with either Cadillac or Cedric Benson word has it Houston would be more than happy to capitalize on the stroke of luck and upgrade their rushing attack. Carnell Williams is an elite running back prospect and while he doesn't have tremendous size he is a fast, explosive athlete who is a threat to take it the distance at any time. It is really a testament to what a good pure runner Williams is that he is considered such a top prospect despite not having the ideal size or speed you look for. In fact, Caddy has been moving up as of late and is being considered by Chicago at #4, Tampa Bay at #5, and Minnesota at #7 as well. Houston is also in the market for another top wideout with speed to team with Andre Johnson so if all three of the running backs are off the board this pick could very well be Troy Williamson. The Texans have also been longing to bring in a franchise left tackle which they basically admitted with their failed attempt to trade for Orlando Pace so if Alex Barron is still available he would be a serious consideration as well. This is actually a team in a pretty good position and they can afford to wait and see if a top prospect falls to them, and the odds seem to favor that happening right now.

47. Houston Texans: Justin Tuck, DE-OLB, Notre Dame

Has a shot at the first round but if still available here he would fill a major need at outside linebacker.

73. Houston Texans (f/DAL): Roydell Williams, WR, Tulane
They are itching to add another top young wideout to compliment Andre Johnson and this guy is very underrated.

78. Houston Texans: Ronald Fields, DT, Mississippi St.

Seth Payne is coming off an injury and depth is needed so this massive nose tackle would be a nice fit here.

That's what I'm talking about :thumbup

I didn't realize we were just that unhappy with DD to be taking a RB that high. I like Cadillac and he's definitely special. But I think I'd rather see us make a half way run at DJ though I know i'm dreaming b/c if nothing I can tell of our draft process its we are conssssservative.

However in the 2nd round I'd like to see us go after Jerome Mathis out of Hampton. The kids big and FAAAAAAST. Unfortunately if we go Cadillac in round 1 i just can't see us going O again in 2.

Of the "big 3" RB's, I would want Caddy the least for our team. I mean seriously, he's the same size as DD and has the durability problems DD has... and we dont need 2 DD's.

Benson or Brown would make sense, even Shelton makes more sense to me than Caddy...

I gotta agree with you there. I dont see the point of two of the SAME backs. You aren't getting a change of pace back or a bruiser. I know Benson could make it to us. I'd rather see Benson or Brown if we take a back. I just would rather give DD another year and address much more pressing needs.

A RB can't do jack if he has no line to run behind. Just ask Emmitt who would have never sniffed the hall of fame if not for that line of his.

I think Ronnie Brown will go high. Carnell Williams and Cedric Benson will get picked in the 5-10 range. I just think with Alex Smith, Aaron Rodgers, Braylon Edwards, Mike Williams, Antrelle Rolle, and DJ still around that Benson and Williams will drop.

I agree one of the big 3 or Williamson is going to drop to us. My only question is if we are going to take Benson its one thing but Cadillac seems to be built similarly to DD. Not sure I understand the point there.

I would be thrilled with that draft. Just because someone is built like another player, doesn't make him that player. If you can't see the difference between Cadicallac and DD, I suggest a trip to the eye doctor is in order. Those two have as much in common as Ray Lewis and Jerry Lewis. They may both be Lewis', but I know which I want as a LB. BTW - Exactly how many times again has DD scored from long range, I think I forgot? Please inform me again. :heh:

I assume you meant RB. I agree Caddy is better but make it sound like DD has become incapable. We have much more glaring needs than improving a position isn't poor which DD isn't. He's a good back not great. However, we have some poor areas that need addressing. Now if they feel like DD won't re-sign at the end of the year then i'm not against taking caddy but if he will i'd prefer with such a deep rb draft that we look at more pressing issues on this team.
