C.C. Brown

I saw lots of tackles in this game from C.C. and his speed was evident. Just curious as to what ya'll thought.

Is he a lock on the team?

Is he the FS of the future, maybe 2 seasons from now?

Something else to ponder. If the opponent goes 5 wide, we can use Coleman on a receiver and put C.C. @ FS. If C.C. gets better and better as the season goes on, we could be very hard to pass on. Especially in the red zone.

I would be more surprised if he WASN'T our starting SS by the end of the season. This guy is player and has some definite speed.

I think its a partially seperated shoulder that has held him out...

It is.

Like the Raiders, the Texans kept out a lot of players because of injuries. With strong safety Glenn Earl still limited because of a separated shoulder, rookie C.C. Brown started. The Chronicle

C.C. Brown will probably be our starter at FS in a few years with coleman retiring or being released as glenn, sharper, and foreman were

C.C. will make the team as Earls backup no doubt. But I think he will only see action when Earl is out, like right now.

I believe he will make the team but i seriously doubt he pushes for Earl's starting position even next season .

He has shown to be Very solid against the run but suspect in pass defense , take the 70 yard TD by Doug Gabriel for example .... It was Browns blown coverage over the top that turned what should have been at worst a 18-25 yard play into a 70 yard TD . Yes Faggins got beat but he was expecting help over the top . He could be the steal of the draft (6th round) in a couple years .... but this isnt the time to judge .

C.C. Brown also got burned for a TD in the Raider Game that he should have stoped they had the pick of him getting blown away by Doug Gabriel that's not good if he's being beaten by a # 5 WR

Nobody got "burned" or "beaten". It was a busted coverage. Faggins expected help from Brown, and Brown blew the assignment.

I saw that the Chronicle has Brown named as a "new starter". Apparently, Capers really likes this guy. He keeps calling him impressive.

He was a lock before the first preseason game. It's evident that he is much more athletic than Earl. Two keys to a 3-4 defense are a dominant NT and SS (see New England and Pittsburgh). Earl was an upgrade over Eric Brown, but CC is a notch above Earl, athletically anyway.

I lthink he can be a real asset down the road, I just am not sure he is ready to start. beisdes that is a lot of pressure for a youngster to handle.

I thought Earl was considered a steal on this board because of his injury in college. He took the starting job last year and showed a ton of potential as a rookie. Could C.C. be Coleman's future replacement or does Earl need to play at an extremely high level?

If anything, Earl is Coleman's replacement. The best defenses in the league have a headhunter/playmaker at Strong Safety (e.g. R. Harrison, E. Reed, T. Polamalu, L. Milloy). Earl played a lot better than Brown, but he certainly won't be in the same class with those guys.

Did anyone see the rookie 2nd string SS for Dallas? Justin Beriault. That's how the position is played.

c.c. brown will have a up and down year cuz vetrans like harrison will toy with him like a paper doll they alway target the young ones to go after

Unless Earl is hurt I don't think we'll see Brown this year as a starter. Also I feel pretty confident that we'll never see him covering Harrison unless he's just covering over the top, Robinson should usually be on him, and after that you have Buchanon and Coleman who are both more capable man cover guys than Brown right now.

You don't know what you're talking about yet you act as if you do.

Earl plays SS and will never play FS (Coleman's position). CCBrown is playing SS as well. Perhaps in the future he could move to FS.

Ed Reed isn't a headhunter nor is he a SS. He plays FS and is a ballhawk- as that position dictates. Harrison, Milloy, Polamalu are all essentially SS. That is the position that is involved most in run support and has less coverage responsibilities and is usually more involved in blitz packages as well. SS are the ones associated with hardhitting and intimidating: Steve Atwater, Rodney Harrison, Bill Bates (for you Cowboy fans)... they usually can't cover very well.

Beriault was letting the third team offense for Seattle complete passes in 15-20 yard chunks. Yes, he did hit them hard. However, I'd rather have the safety prevent the first down. He looks like a good special teamer though.

If CC Brown is matched up against Marvin Harrison this year then we are in a LOT of trouble.

Let me get this straight... you don't even know what position Ed Reed (one of the best defensive players in the league) plays and I don't know what I'm talking about? Get your facts straight before calling people out.

Harrison, Milloy, Polamalu are all essentially SS and their main responsibility is run supprt. Really? That's a revelation.

Earl plays SS and will never play FS (Coleman's position). We've got you on record...

DALEMURPHY, ed reed is a ss but he doesnt play the position like ss of old. Will Demps is the FS on the ravens. ed reed more of a ss/fs tweener(see sean taylor, roy williams, brian dawkins). you were right and wrong, but i understood what you were saying. such conviction
