Bye Week Mock....2011 Draft

Wolf6151

All Pro
It's the bye week, hopefully the defense practices alot and gets better. Hopefully the offense practices alot and gets more consistent, and everyone gets healthy. MNF in Indy will be very important to how our season goes. In the meantime lets see some mocks. I've got 2, let me know.

1. Brandon Harris-CB from Miami.
2. Kristofer O'Dowd-C from USC
3. Sione Fua-DT from Stanford
4. Quinton Carter-FS from Oklahoma
5. Steve Schilling-OG from Michigan
6. Tejay Johnson-SS from TCU
7. J.T. Thomas-OLB from West Virginia

or

1. Nick Fairley-DT from Auburn
2. Curtis Brown-CB from Texas
3. John Moffitt-OG/C from Wisconsin
4. Quinton Carter-FS from Oklahoma
5. Steve Schilling-OG from Michigan
6. Michael Morgan-OLB from USC
7. Tejay Johnson-SS from TCU

I don't think there is any way that Carter lasts until the 4th.

  • Harris is a true cover corner, he is the type you can isolate on an island. very good ball skills/playmaker. However I've lost a bit of confidence in Texans evaluation of position & will not give them a pass on selecting corner in the first round again so would lean towards Fariley out of SEC to transition quickly into DT rotation.
  • Kristofer O'Dowd would be a good fit & eventual upgrade over Myers but don't see Texans think need or his draft grade that high. I like the pick but I just don't think they would pull the trigger on that one. Going CB Curtis Brown in 2nd makes more sense or FS here.
  • Earl Mitchell II? Texans could use some Samoan blood & see-OWN-ay foo-AH would give them added attitude. Any idea of Amobi Okoye future here, are the Texans committed to extending him?
  • FS position needs a big bump up. If you want Carter I would suggest trading back in 2nd like they did for Tate, increase odds of aquiring him already has a solid 3rd rd. grade.
  • OG from Michigan can't go wrong but Texans have Shelly Smith on PS.
  • Once again Texans have a solid group of SS with another boilermaker on PS Tori Williams. I'm probably in the minority but I would like to see the Texans add an explosive edge rusher higher so OLB here instead who can pass rush & play special teams. Kenny Rowe, Oregon is an undersized DE who would swing to WILL for Texans or could become a 3-4 OLB. 6-3 235 had three sacks on Pryor in 09 Rose Bowl & co defensive mvp.
  • What about addressing MLB here? DeMeco will return but his timetable should not be compromised & after Sharpton I don't feel Bentley is the answer going forward. How bout' another Duck? Casey Matthews is their starting MLB, typical competitive spirit we know & love. I've watched him develop from back-up special teams reserve to playing a prominent role starting, seems like a safe bet to go with the Matthews name in the 7th.

Gonna agree here almost word for word. Especially on Casey Matthews who looked awesome this last week. I do not see Myers being moved out anytime soon. I really like O'Dowd but I am not spending a high pick on a center. In fact, unless D gets much better quicker my next mock may show 7 picks for defense.

I'd love for us to spend out first 3 picks in the secondary.. =P

In such a highly touted CB class, surely we..you know, draft one?

Please?

My mock drafts are based on what I would do if I were the GM, not trying to predict what the Texans might do. God only knows what Kubiak might do. I agree with you in some respects, I don't trust the Texans as talent evaluators either and although O'Dowd would really be a nice addition to the team I doubt Kubiak would even give him a chance. Myers is his boy. The Schilling pick is because even though we've got S. Smith on the PS and he looked good in preseason, I'd like another OG to move Studdard and/or Brisiel off the team. I agree that FS should be moved higher but I see us as having 4 major weaknesses (CB, DT, OG/C, and FS) and we can't fill all of them with starter level talent in one draft. We'll have to pick up someone in FA or let Nolan be the starter next year which isn't a great option. I disagree with our SS talent, Domonique Barber sucks and I'm not familiar with Tori Williams but if he couldn't beat out Barber it doesn't say much for him. I think that OLB is a bigger need than MLB, Ryans will be back next year and if not then Diles or Cushing can fill his spot better than a rookie and a talent upgrade at OLB is a good thing. I do agree with you regarding spending all 7 picks on the defense, although I'd like to improve our O-line quality and depth, I wouldn't be averse to all picks spent on defense.

Let's see some other bye week mocks.
