Buchanon's effect on Faggins

Nickle Package
Babin, Walker, Smith, Peek
Greenwood, Wong
Glenn, Robinson, Buchanon, Simmons (SS), Coleman (FS)

Dime Package
Babin, Walker, Peek
Greenwood, Wong
Glenn, Robinson, Buchanon, Faggins, Simmons (SS), Coleman (FS)

An interesting thing to follow this year would be how much playing time Buchanon, Faggins, Simmons, and Lewis Sanders each get. Buchanon probably really eats into Faggins playing time. Sanders and Simmons are probably going to fight it out for a roster spot as the big corner and strong safety in passing situations.

Any chance that Sanders plays SS in nickel or dime depending on down/distance?
I'm not really sure of the depth chart, but it seems like his experience @ CB might make him a decent fit on 3rd and long situations...
I know he has some starts at FS, and I believe one at SS. I hear that he's not a good tackler, but in obvious passing situations, his cover skills might be helpful @ SS.

Then we would have:

Babin-Walker-Smith-Peek
Greenwood-Wong
Glen-DRob-Buchanan
Sanders-Coleman

Babin-Walker-Peek
Greenwood-Wong
Glen-DRob-Buchanan-Faggins
Sanders-Coleman

Jason Simmons has mostly played corner.
Capers likes him because he is so versatile that he can also backup either safety position, but he is basically a cornerback.

I think we'll see something similar to last season when we go to the nickle. I'd think that DRob would shift to the slot receiver since he'll always be a threat to come on the blitz. I think Faggins might hold on to his NB role depending upon the receiver he's matched up against. He performs well along the sideline. PB might come in to face the faster WRs that we face, or to relieve Glenn for a play or two. What's really interesting to me is when we go to a dime package. I think we'd likely have Glenn and Faggins on the outside with DRob and PB matching up on the inside WRs. If the opposing team puts 3 WRs on one side with one on the other I'd think DRob would be on the WR closes to the QB. The season really needs to start because I'm already trying to do Caper's job when I really should be wearing my GM hat since the draft is this weekend.
