Bryce Williams, TE from ECU

Hall of Fame
He is projected to go in the 4th or 5th round. I thought he looked great at the combine and would be a bargain in the 4th round. He's not fast, but he's big, agile, appears to be a good route-runner, and has excellent hands. He also has the size and strength to develop into a good inline blocker.

Did others notice him, and what do you think?

Might possibly be my favorite TE in the entire class. I think he's really going to surprise people.

So this is gonna look goofy compared to what I just wrote just two days ago, but I went back and watched some more of his stuff last night because of the lack of responses to this thread. And now I feel like I need to pull a total 180 on him. I had watched him in spurts this year and liked what I saw. But after watching pretty much all I could find now I'm changing my mind.

I do agree that he seems to have good hands. At first glance he seemed like a good route runner too. But after watching more I've changed my mind. He isn't explosive at all and doesn't actually create any separation. When I watched before I noticed that he was open all the time. After studying more I'm noticing that it's because the defense often doesn't even account for him as a threat and leaves him uncovered. That's where he gets most of his catches and he still fails to do anything at all in the open field.

When I had watched him before he was always in the slot. I just assumed it was because of the system that ECU runs. But after watching more it appears it is because he has no blocking ability whatsoever. They tried to occasionally use him as a lead blocker at FB and he would get crushed by both DL and ILBs. When they lined him up at TE he was too slow with his feet and hands to latch onto OLBs and DBs.

Despite looking like he could have some potential at first glance, he instead appears to be a combo of all the worst attributes of Jace Amaro and C.J. Fiedorowicz. That's not a good combo and it's disappointing to me, because I was expecting far different when I started watching.

I actually think this TE group is better than people think. Hunter Henry is going to be a good TE, he's really the only guy that has all the tools. David Morgan will be a surprise too because the dude can straight catch the ball.

But I think the sleeper of them all is TE Nick Vannett from Ohio St...he's the more complete TE in this class.

I think our best bet TE wise is probably a FA, someone like Ladarius Green or Dwayne Allen. Wont be a Gronk type player but better than what we currently have. You can always take a shot on someone late in the draft or get an UDFA. I wish we would have kept Khari Lee still

Yeah, I saw a few ECU games this year and he can be productive if he gets open. He just isn't fast at all or quick. He'll have a problem getting open as well as making plays after the catch.

Baylor hoops star Rico Gathers will head to NFL, not play college football

Baylor power forward Rico Gathers intends to pursue the NFL, not play college football for the Bears in 2016, a school spokesman told CBS Sports on Tuesday.

ESPN first reported Gathers was lining up private workouts for NFL scouts, though a report Monday from the Houston Chronicle noted that Gathers would instead stay at Baylor and play football for Art Briles in 2016 as a means of learning the tight end position.

“He says his intent is to play for the NFL, not at Baylor,” the Bears' spokesman confirmed.
