Bring back Seth Wand!

Seth Wand never got beat the way Riley and Wade were beaten today- outside of Dwight Freeney. Not only that, but Wand only had 3 penalties called against him all season last year. I think Riley already has 5. The benching theme should continue and Riley, McKinney, and Wade should all be benched this week- the pass blocking couldn't possibly be any worse.

By the way, amazing what happens when they get that tool Bradford out of the game and throw the ball to Gaffney!

maybe we could work wand in but i hope they dont replace 3 of our olineman. the only thing worse than our starting o line is our second team o-line.

All I can say is they BETTER get a left tackle in the draft.

Here's an idea:

Wand @ LT with Bruener on the LEFT side. On the right side we could have a slot receiver, allowing AJ, Gaff, and Armstrong in the game at once. Trade out Mathis for one of those guys occasionally, I suppose. Norris would have to sit out a lot though. I think DD would be in hog heaven running the to the left and maybe the pass protection would be improved. I just don't know how our RT would hold up.

Carr would need to be prepared for the slot corner's blitz. If DD can't block, we might have to use Wells. I do think this could work though.

Victor Riley was beaten like a red-headed step child all day long. Half of the sacks that people blamed on Carr were a result of Riley grazing Pollack as he simply ran around him.

Wand LT, Riley LG, Hodgdon C, MBrown RG, Pitts RT... does anyone honestly believe that the protection would be worse if we did someone like this.

Wand was credited with 12.5 sacks last year and 3 penalties- and that was his first season starting. Riley, who's in the second half of his career has given up God knows how many sacks and already 5 penalties through 3 FREAKIN' GAMES . Last year's line gave up 3.1 sacks per game. This year's line is giving up 6.6 sacks per game. Someone tell me why Wand shouldn't be in there?

I agree with you dale. Put Wand back in the game somewhere. Through the 1st three games he has about 4 penalties and 4 sacks allowed. I'd rather see a player with some potential upside.

As I stated, I don't disagree, but I can't believe I don't disagree with a thread named, "Bring back Seth Wand!" This is sad.

no pun intended here, but I think the center of the OL problems IS the Center.. Mckinney makes way to much money to be pushed back into Carr time and time again.

When the pocket collapses from the inside, Carr has to move out of the pocket.. well , the tackles can't see where he is going and lots of times Carr sacks himself because he is flushed out of the pocket. At least if a tackle gets beat.. Carr can step up out of the way and make the throw, but he can't because <<< sarcasm alert >>>Mckinney is there waiting for the handoff for the ole statue of liberty play

The coaches made a mistake when they put Riley with the first team on the second or third day of training camp, before he had proven anything. They really need to own up to it and let Wand play. Wand never looked this bad, and Riley is getting more tight end help than Wand ever did.

I shudder to think about Riley "blocking" Freeney - I don't think 3 QBs will be enough to take the pounding.

This is funny. Here we are back with the same comments about the O-line. Different threads, but everyone is saying the same thing. And who was a big part of coaching the O-line. Oh, Yea, Pendry? This is simply a big illusion. There's been no change, but the team seemed like it played a little better. This coaching staff is a big zero when it comes to putting players together in workable combinations. Too much a.. k... for that too happen. If you don't do it, they bench you. Remember, all the comments about Wand in TC trying to find what he was doing wrong. Well he didn't do enough a... k.... The coaching staff is a big joke. McKinney is the biggest a... k... of all on this ball club. Everyone has been saying for how long the pocket is collapsing in the middle and that McKinney is the responsible party. He's a converted guard. I think Washington played center when his team won the SB or was in it. He must have had something to get that far. Oh, yes, I forgot we changed our blocking scheme so Washington doesn't fit it. That's right we have to change schemes even though we don't have the personnel to play it that way. Another example of a square peg in a round hole. Keep pounding that mallet Capers, the players might finally fit in the hole..................

P.S. Its sad because we do have some good players, but they are being totally mismanaged..............................

We do have some good players, but I think their confidence has been destroyed by now. Poor coaching, poor schemes - they take a toll.

I would not be upset if Wand returned at LT and <insert name of player not named "McKinney"> plays Center. McKinney has been the weakest link in the o-line for the past 2+ seasons. I have no clue if he could perform at Guard. I would be OK with him sitting down next to Hollings though.

Dwight Freeney just seemed to have Wand's number, but hey, Freeney's one of the best in the league, so I never really held it against Wand that he was getting beaten by one player. Riley, on the other hand, is getting beaten by everyone and is turning into a real matador. He is detrimental to the team in a way that Wand was not. AND Riley is probably not going to improve. I've seen what we did to Babin and Buchanon (the other matador) and liked it. I hope we do the same with Riley. He's had his chance and proved extremely ineffective. It's time to elevate the play and put Riley on injured reserve (maybe a groin injury) and insert Wand back into the huddle.

You're talking about the 610 radio player of the game here!

Hehe...oops! [sarcasm]I take it back then because we all know that if they decide to give hive an extra $500 then he must be good! [/sarcasm]

I couldn't believe that when I read it. What a joke. Why the infatuation with McKinney? Because he's local? Because he's an Aggie? Because he's a "good ol boy"?

That's what I'm saying, because I still think Wand was a scapegoat for the OL just like Palmer was a scapegoat for the whole offense. No matter what anybody says, Riley has been a RT for his whole NFL career prior to coming here this year, and there is a very good reason why he spend his career on the right side of the line. He didn't just magically morph into a bonafide NFL LT between the end of his 8th season (or however many years he's been in the league), and training camp this summer.
We all know how Chester advanced from his first to second year as our LT,
but apparently we'll never have the opportunity to see if Wand would have the same kind of progression.

3 excellent guesses.
